Neshaminy senior Rusty Kujdych finished first at the PIAA Class AAA Championships in Hershey on Saturday on the heels of gold medal performances at both the district and league championships.
Neshaminy senior Rusty Kujdych put the finishing touches on his final high school season with a gold medal performance at the PIAA Class AAA Championship in Hershey on Saturday. Kujdych posted a winning time of 15:47 to finish 10 seconds ahead of Butler’s Noah Beveridge, who finished second. Saturday’s first place finish completed the trifecta for Kujdych, who finished first in the SOL National, District One AAA and PIAA Class AAA races. Last year, Kujdych finished 10th at the state meet.
In the race for a team title, Council Rock North finished second to La Salle. The two teams boasted identical scores after the first five runners, so the sixth runner was the tiebreaker, giving the Explorers the advantage.
On the girls’ side, North Penn senior Ariana Gardizy was the top SOL finisher in 14th place with a time of 19:12. In the team competition, Central Bucks West, the District One 3A champions, finished ninth with 208 points. North Penn was 14th in the team standings.
