Thursday, Dec. 13
NORTH PENN 11, SOUDERTON 4
The four-point games of Will Hughes, Jake Nelson and Nathan Oh led a balanced Knight attack in a decisive win over their neighboring rivals. Hughes had a hat trick and one assist, Nelson had two goals and two assists and Oh finished the night with one goal and three assists.
The Knights took a lead they would not lose when Hughes (Oh/Jared Albano assists) scored 3:27 into the opening period. Joshua Kaufhold followed with a power play goal, using assists from Hughes and Albano. The Knights led 3-0 after Tony Tuozzo found the back of the net. Zachery Cline and Quinn Holt assisted. Tyler MacPhee (Sebastian Watters assist) answered with a goal for the Indians. Hughes (Albano/Oh assists) and MacPhee (John Gray assist) exchanged goals to close out the period, and the Knights led 4-2.
Back-to-back-to-back goals by Tyler Greenstein, Nelson and Oh in the second period put the Knights on top 7-2 before Gray found the net on a power play, using a MacPhee assist.
The Knights led 9-2 after Hughes and Luke Van Why scored to open the final period. Nicholas Szlavik found the net on a short-handed goal for the Indians before Nelson and Albano each added power play goals to close out the scoring.
Goalie Andrew Zanoni recorded 10 saves in the win for the Knights. Jonathan Pritchard kept the Indians in it with a remarkable 70-save effort.
The Knights share the top spot in the SHSHL Continental Conference standings with Central Bucks South. Both teams boast perfect 4-0 records in conference play.

ABINGTON 13, WILLIAM TENNENT 3
Perry Carpenter scored five goals and assisted on two others in a glittering seven-point performance to lead the Ghosts to the convincing win. Gavin O’Donnell (two goals, two assists) and Ryan Gosselin (one goal, three assists) both had four-point nights.
Carpenter – in a preview of things to come – scored less than a minute into the game, using an O’Donnell assist. Goals by O’Donnell (Tommy Rourke assist) and Joe Stelacio (Sam Panella assist) spotted the Ghosts a 3-0 lead seven minutes into the game. Stelacio’s goal came on a power play.
David Gray used assists from Bobby Markus and Chad Cartwright to put the Panthers on the board only to watch Daniel Staley (Gosselin assist) and Carpenter (Gosselin assist) answer with single goals for the Ghosts. A goal by Markus (Matthew Castan assist) made it a 5-2 game after one period.
Tennent pulled to within two when Thomas Hartenstein scored 34 seconds into the second period (Cartwright/Jared George assists), but the Ghosts reeled off three straight goals to close out the period – two by Carpenter and one from Panella.
The Ghosts put the finishing touches on the win with third period goals from O’Donnell (power play), Coston, Nathan Broskley, Carpenter and Gosselin.
Abington goalie Mason Large was credited with 19 saves in the win while Tennent’s Trey Smith and Thomas Lomas combined for 21.

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 5, HARRY S TRUMAN 3
The Indians scored a pair of late goals to eke out a non-league win over the Tigers. The Indians took a 2-1 lead into the final period and upped their advantage to two after a goal by Richard Sichel (Vladimir Litvinov assist) early in the final period. Rock North appeared to be in command , but Truman’s William Findlay had other ideas, knotting the scored with back-to-back goals – the second with a Brent McGoldrick assist.
Sixteen seconds after Findlay scored the equalizer 10:16 into the final period, William Sohn (Litvinov and Richard Sichel assists) found the net with the go-ahead goal for the Indians. Litvinov added an insurance goal for the 5-2 final.
Early on, Truman took a 1-0 lead, thanks to a goal in the final minute of the opening period by Jeremy McCartney (James Gallagher/Brent McGoldrick assists). Rock North scored a pair in the second. Michael Janora (Rex Fowler assist) scored the go-ahead goal, and Clare Schaffer put the Indians on top 2-1 when she scored an unassisted goal 11:29 into the period.
Rock North’s Rex Goldberg turned away 28 of 31 shots to earn the win in goal.

Wednesday, Dec. 12
CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 11, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 1
The Bucks erupted for three goals in the first period and six more in the second on their way to the convincing non-league win. Christopher Trefz’s three-point game led a balanced West attack that saw 11 different players contribute to the scoring.
It was Trefz putting the Bucks on the scoreboard six minutes into the game, and goals by Daniel Pollak (Ryan Haywood assist) and Pavel Serhiayenka (Trefz assist) gave the Bucks a 3-0 lead after one period.
Christopher Young’s goal with a Jake Lang assist ignited a 6-0 second-period tear that featured goals by six different players. Lang, Kyle Burton, Ben Morris (Haywood assist), Keith Orlando (Daniel Poliak assist) and Joey DeYoung (Matthew McCarthy assist) each added a single goal.
Claire Schaffer scored with a Wilton Pasch assist to put the Indians on the board 1:50 into the final period. Young (DeYoung assist) and Serhiayenka (Trefz/Orlando assists) closed out the game with goals for the Bucks.
West goalie Nicholas Ritz turned away 11 shots in the win. Rock North’s Rex Goldberg was credited with 29 saves.
