SOL SHSHL Ice Hockey Wrap (1-27-17)

CB West edged William Tennent 2-1 in SHSHL action Friday.

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 2, WILLIAM TENNENT 1
In a classic battle, the Bucks rallied from a 1-0 deficit to eke out the win over the Panthers. The Bucks held a lopsided 42-22 advantage in shots, but that advantage was negated by the dazzling 40-save effort of Tennent goalie Eric Lineman.
Lineman gave a preview of things to come in the opening period. The Bucks held a 19-5 advantage in shots but found themselves locked in a scoreless tie heading into the second period.
Jack McKeever’s goal with a Stephen Skiba assist 1:51 into the second period gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead, but less than five minutes later Luke McCleerey found the net on a power play, using assists from Matthew McCarthy and Joey Rockovich. The two teams entered the final period deadlocked 1-1 despite West’s 33-10 advantage in shots.
Tucker Forte’s power play goal with assists from Shawn Philipps and Joe Anton 47 seconds into the final period proved to be the game winner. The Panthers didn’t go down quietly, but West goalie Jeremy Kennard turned away all 12 shots he faced in the period.
Kennard was credited with 21 saves in a winning effort.
