HATFIELD – While the score of 4-4 may not seem like much, the importance of the one point difference between Souderton and Central Bucks West can make a huge difference on whether either team makes the playoffs or not.

Souderton (5-2-2) came out hard and strong, taking 13 shots in the first period, hoping to find the net early, but the Bucks strong defense and not to mention the 48 saves from Kenny Doak, allowed CB West (3-4-1) to stay in contention.

With a power play in their favor, the Bucks managed to light up the scoreboard at 13:27 of the first period when Danny Wilson buried the puck off a rebound that ricocheted off the pipe from Eric Schwass’s shot for the first goal of the game.

The scoring spree didn’t end there as the Bucks got another goal as Shawn German carried the puck up the ice on the rush and passed it off to Scotty Cappuccio, who then fed it to John McCreadie to chip it past Souderton’s Dawson Anders to give the Bucks the 2-0 lead with 47 seconds remaining in the first.

Souderton continued to overload West’s defense, setting off a barrage of 13 shots on goal before  Daniel Rock managed to steal the puck away from a Bucks defender and connected with Alex Polistsky, who then deked twice before taking the shot off the goalie’s left blocker for Souderton’s first goal of the game to make it a 2-1 game.

Patience was the key for West, and the meaning behind it truly paid off at the 13:44 mark with a power play in its favor. Joe Anton managed to control the puck and fed it to Shawn Philipps towards the right side of the neutral zone for a breakaway and connected with Danny Wilson on the left side for the easy chip-in goal to extend the lead to 3-1. Souderton continued to crash the net, but Doak remained hot in the net for the Bucks as time winded down to end the second period.

Central Bucks West opened the third period with a bang as Wilson netted his second goal of the night just 1:10 into the period for the 4-1 lead. It may have seemed that the game was now out of reach for Souderton; however, the Indians showed no signs of going down quietly as their passes were more fluid and the shots began to intensify and finally found life as Politsky netted the Indians’ second goal at the 8:43 mark to trail 4-2.

Two minutes later, the momentum began to shift as Geoff George jammed the puck past the goalie’s legs to make it a 4-3 game with Souderton rallying back from a three-goal deficit. The rally didn’t end there as Souderton took advantage of the power play with D. Rock set up a slap shot from Politsky to the top right corner, tying the score with less than seven minutes remaining in the game.

Both teams strived to set up the next goal, setting off shots from both ends of the ice, but the puck never found the back of the net as time expired with the scoreboard showing 4-4.

Politsky posted a pair of goals and an assist for Souderton while Wilson also collected a pair of goals for Central Bucks West. Doak came up with 48 saves on 52 shots as Souderton’s netminder, Anders, posted 13 saves on 17 shots on the night.
