By the numbers: Council Rock North: Kayla Ripper (3-for-4, 2RBI, 1R), Zoe Hardy (3-for-4, 1R), Mia Kiskurno (3-for-4, 2RBI, 1R), Zoe Hornstein (2-for-4, 3R), Sierra Klein (3B)
Mia Kiskurno (W) (7.0 IP 4H 0R, 2BB, 5K)
Key innings: Top of fourth: With two outs and the bases empty, Alison Bodick drew a walk. Zoe Hornstein was safe on an error that allowed Bodick to advance to third. Kiskurno singled to center, plating Bodick, and a pair scored on Ripper’s single to right field. (3-0)
Top of sixth: With one out, Hornstein, Kiskurno, and Ripper singled to load the bases. A run scored on Olivia Schlindwein’s fielder’s choice, and Chelsea Seiler singled home a run. (5-0).
Council Rock North coach Susan Yee: “It was another good team effort. The girls talked, they made consistent adjustments at the plate, and they strung hits together. They have really been buying into the concept of just squaring up the ball one at a time, and making things happen as a group as opposed to one kid doing it in one swing.
“Pennsbury is young, but they are a perennial powerhouse, so anytime you can visit there and come away with a win, you count your blessings. I told the girls, ‘I know we had an emotional win against CR South on Tuesday, so we have to put extra effort into not having a letdown game today because if we don’t come in playing at the top of our game, Pennsbury will make us pay.’ I’m just really proud of the girls for their team effort and mental focus to avoid that fate.”
Up next: Council Rock North (7-2, 4-0 SOL) will host Harry S Truman Tuesday, and Pennsbury (4-4, 2-2) will travel to Conwell-Egan Saturday for a battle with its neighboring rival (11 am).

NORTH PENN 7, SOUDERTON 5
The Knights erupted for five runs in the bottom of the second inning and led the rest of the way, handing the Indians their first division loss of the young season.
The big difference in this one was the fact that the Knights did not commit an error while the visiting Indians had six, resulting in five unearned runs.
Felicia Connolly, who was on a pitch limit, started and threw four innings to earn the win. Brandi Groarke closed out the game.
By the numbers: North Penn: Seven players had one hit each for the Knights.

Key innings: Bottom of second: Connolly opened the inning with a single, and the inning also included singles by Alana Battavio (RBI), Gabriella Brigidi and Mady Archer (RBI). The Knights benefitted from three Souderton errors in the inning (5-0)
North Penn coach Rick Torresani: “It was a good win for the girls. We had Felicia Connolly back for four innings today. She came out and did a good job. We played a clean game behind her. We needed to get back on the winning track, and we needed to have Felicia on the mound, and that’s what happened today. It was a needed win.”
Souderton coach Tyler Bui: “North Penn came ready to play. I was extremely impressed with their composure and discipline at the plate to start the game. Their batters up and down the lineup forced us to make a lot of stress pitches early in the game.
“We found ourselves down 5-0 in the second inning, caused by errors not typical of our team. I sometimes forget that we are a very young team, so these things will happen. I am extremely proud of our girls. After digging ourselves a huge hole, they never gave up and put the tying run at the plate in the last inning. These types of games are only going to make us better.”
Up next: North Penn (3-3, 3-1 SOL) will travel to Warwick on Saturday for a non-league game (11 am). Souderton (5-2, 3-1) will host Cheltenham in a non-league game Friday.

The Panthers trailed 5-2 after four innings but went on a 7-0 tear to earn the come-from-behind road win. Highlighting the win was Leah Schwalm reaching a personal milestone when she collected the 100th hit of her stellar career.
The all-state catcher also played a starring role in Thursday’s win, collecting three hits – including a double – and finishing with five RBIs.
“Leah is so solid,” Quakertown coach Rich Scott said. “Between her and a couple of girls last year, they’re just solid players. She’s so coachable and just does whatever is asked of her, and she’s money up there at the plate.”
Kira Jefferson and Ava Eatherton also had three-hit days. Ava Zebert earned the win in the circle.
The Trojans were led by the two-hit effort of Juliet O’Farrell, who had a double and two RBIs. Gianna Tretola had a triple that plated Julia Lentz- who doubled - in a three-run first. Ava Frederick hit a two-run home run that gave the Trojans a 5-2 lead in the third inning.

Quakertown coach Rich Scott: “It was a great team win. Wissahickon is much improved. They have a decent squad.”
--Props: “Ellie Hilton had a double and a couple of RBIs, Ava Eatherton did very well, Kira Jefferson had three hits out of the leadoff spot. Carli Maha hit a rocket between third and short, and the third baseman stuck out her glove and caught it. It was a very hard-hit ball.
“Ava Gebert did well on the mound. I took her out for a couple of batters in the seventh inning and put our freshman in. She struggled, and I put Ava back in. I told (our freshman) that she gave Ava enough of a rest to come back in and finish the game because Ava Zebert was struggling a little too. She just needed that little bit of break to come back in and recoup herself.”

The Colonials took control of this one early, scoring four runs in the first and putting the game out of reach with eight in the second. The win was the fifth in as many games after three straight losses to open the season.
“I’m so proud of these girls and the way they’ve come together after our 0-3 start,” PW coach Mike Perez said. “We have high expectations this year, and I wanted to test us early with games vs top teams in the district.
“Scheduling them all in the first week of the season may have been a little ambitious, but I’m happy with how we’ve rebounded. We have a lot of new pieces (six players in new positions from last year), and we just had to figure out how they all fit together. But we have two of the top pitchers in the area and a lineup full of firepower.”
