Val Buehler was in complete command in the mound, allowing a pair of hits while fanning six and walking none.
The Falcons improved to 4-0 in the league (6-0 overall) while the Golden Hawks fell to 0-3 in the league (2-3 overall).
COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 13, HARRY S TRUMAN 11
The Indians erupted for five runs in the fifth inning, turning a 10-8 deficit into a 13-10 lead. Dom Pinto delivered a home run in the pivotal fifth, which also included doubles by Hannah Mumber, Marketa Kruse and Marissa Gergel.
Early in, the Tigers plated a pair of runs in the first only to watch the Indians answer with five in the bottom of the first. The Indians led 8-7 after two innings, but the Tigers erased that lead with a two-run third to go on top by one, setting the stage for Rock North’s comeback.
Gergel led the Indians with a perfect 4-for-4 day at the plate while Pinto was 3-for-4 and Segel had a pair of hits and a team-high four RBIs. Kruse and Gergel each had three RBIs.
For the Tigers, Bridget Hunt had a big day, going 4-for-5 with two doubles.
Mumber earned the win on the mound. She was relieved by freshman Lisa Miller in the second inning but returned to close it out in the seventh.
The Indians are 2-2 in league play (2-4 overall) while the Tigers are 1-2 in the league (1-3 overall).
UPPER MERION 6, PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 4
Abby Volpe ripped a three-run triple and Olivia Sborlini added a two-run double to highlight a five-run fifth inning explosion. The Vikings trailed 4-1 heading into the fifth when they seized control of the game.
“Both teams made a few errors,” Upper Merion coach John Whitney said. “We made a couple of miscues to give them a couple of runs.
“In the fifth inning, they walked a couple of batters, so that helped us too.”
Micaela Ghanayem led the Vikings with two hits, including a double. Sborlini, a freshman, earned the win on the mound.
“We’re a young team,” Whitney said. “Today I started two seniors, a junior and six freshmen. The kids can play a little bit. We’re going to have some growing pains, and we have some things to learn, but they have a good grasp of the game. They’re going to have their ups and downs. They’re playing kids two or three years old, but they play travel and they’re used to competition.
“Nothing fazes them right now, and that’s a good thing. We got down 4-1, and they dug down and found a way.”
The Vikings and Colonials boast identical 2-1 records in league play (2-0 marks overall).
“We were talking to the coaches today – it sure seems like a wide open league,” Whitney said. “With this league, if you’re playing good, I think anybody can beat anybody on any day.”

The Patriots, who pounded out 19 hits, scored three runs in the first and then blew the game wide open with an 11-run third. They closed it out with two runs in the fourth. The Eagles plated their only run in the fourth.
