UPPER MORELAND 18, CHELTENHAM 5 (5 innings)
The Golden Bears celebrated Senior Night under the lights at Masons Mill Park with a decisive win over the Lady Panthers that clinched at least a share of the division title with one league game remaining.
“Tonight, we honored our seniors - Savannah Anderson, Lianna Adames, Kelly Bates, Erin Distel, Stephanie Jones and Joslyn Mc Cellan,” UM coach Melanie Martino said. “Our seniors are a special group, and I will truly miss each one of them. They have set a standard of work ethic and positive team culture that will be their legacy.”
The Golden Bears took a 1-0 lead into the third inning when they exploded for six runs and added eight more in the fourth inning to bring an early end to the game.
Sofia Magagna went 2-for-3, Kelly Bates and Joslyn McCellan each went 2-for-4 to lead the UM offense. Lianna Adames also had a triple.
Delaney Stout notched the win, allowing four hits and five runs – none earned – while striking out seven and walking two.
Hazel Dobeck’s three-run home run in the third was the big hit for the visiting Panthers.
By the numbers: Upper Moreland: Kelly Bates (2-for-4, 1RBI, 3R), Joslyn McCellen (2-for-4, 2RBI, 2R), Sofia Magagna (2-for-3, 2B, 3RBI), Erin Distel (1-for-2, 3R), Lianna Adames (1-for-2, 3B, 1RBI, 1R)
Cheltenham: Hazel Dobeck (HR, 3 RBIs)
Key inning: Bottom of third: Trailing 4-1 heading into the bottom of the third, the Bears put six runs on the board. They managed just one hit in the inning – a single by Erin Distel – but benefitted from three Panther errors and two walks to plate six runs, taking a 7-4 lead on their way to the mercy rule win.
Up next: Upper Moreland (13-5, 8-1 SOL) is scheduled to host Lower Moreland in its SOL finale Tuesday. Cheltenham (0-13, 0-9) will host Springfield Twp on Tuesday.

UPPER DUBLIN 2, WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 0
Kyla Garrison had herself a day.
UD’s ace allowed just one hit, issued one walk and struck out 16 in a dazzling complete game win that snapped Rustin’s 12-game winning streak.
“They’re a young team with some real good promising potential,” UD coach Heather Boyer said of a Rustin squad that is ranked first in District 1 5A. “They know the game of softball, and they play competitively, but Kyla was brilliant today.
“She struck out 16 players. Every one of their players in the starting lineup with the exception of their catcher had at least one strikeout. She had all of her stuff working so well today and just did a great job of hitting spots, mixing speeds and keeping them off balance. There was one legitimate hit.”
With 16 strikeouts, Garrison didn’t need a whole lot of defensive support,
“Their leadoff hitter, Jenna Kraft, gets things going for them, and I knew that going in,” Boyer said. “She hit a ball really hard to left field, and Sophia Vitella, our left fielder, made a nice catch on her.
“Otherwise, they really had a hard time anticipating what Kyla was going to throw, so for a team that has as many wins as they have – and they have scored a lot of runs, she found a way to really quiet their bats today, which was outstanding.”
Garrison also led the UD attack with a 2-for-4 effort and one RBI.
By the numbers: Upper Dublin: Kyla Garrison (W) (7.0, 1H, 1BB, 16K, 2-for-4, 1RBI)
Kaitlyn Zacharia (2-for-2), Madden Reilly (2B)
Key innings: Top of first: Madden Reilly led off the inning with a double to left and was replaced by courtesy runner Sarah O’Brien, who advanced to third on a sac bunt by Zacharia. O’Brien scored on an RBI groundout by Garrison.
Top of fourth: Kate Brannigan hit a one-out single to right field and advanced to second on an error. She scored on a hard hit grounder by Paige McKenna that was misplayed.
Upper Dublin coach Heather Boyer: “This was the momentum we needed in a big week. If all goes as planned, we’ll play PW tomorrow, weather permitting. And then we have Garnet Valley on Wednesday at home and The Mount on Thursday.
Up next: Upper Dublin (12-5, 7-2 SOL) is scheduled to host Plymouth Whitemarsh on Tuesday.

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 10, LAKE-LEHMAN 0 (6 innings)
The day belonged to Lexi Waring, who put her name in the record books in a non-league shutout win for the Golden Hawks.
“Great game today against a very tough Lake Lehman team that came in 17-1,” Rock South coach Scott Molle said. “We played very well in every aspect of the game today. Defense was on point, committing no errors - the offense was able to pound out 8 hits and just put the ball in play against a JMU commit pitcher (Hannah Chipego) for Lake Lehman.
“But the one that stole the day was Lexi Waring who with the first batter she faced on the day collected her 600th career strikeout. This stat is not one you will see every day. This is something for the record books at South, and I don’t see how this will be broken.
“This is the third game in a row we have been able to dispatch our opponent by the run rule and with Lexi being dominant for us in the circle. In our last two games, Lexi has 19 strikeouts and only has allowed five hits. This kid is special, and she is dealing now and peaking at the perfect time for us. I can’t state enough what Lexi has brought to South softball and her legacy will always be remembered as one of the best.”
The Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the first without the benefit of a hit. Chipego – who walked five in the game - issued three of those in the first inning, and the Hawks also committed a costly error. They added two in the second, one in the third and put the game away with five runs in the fourth.
“We are very happy where our team is at this point in the season,” Molle said. “We have one game left on the schedule and look forward to seeing what the future holds for this team.”
By the numbers: Council Rock South: Lexi Waring (W) (6.0 IP, 2H, 0R, 0BB, 14K)
Shannon Williams (2-for-3, 2R), Sophia Salamon (1-for-3, 2RBI)
Key inning: Bottom of the fifth: The five-run fifth included a one-out walk to Jenna Pesapane, two costly errors and singles by Julia Scannapieco, Kelly Delise (RBI), Williams, and Salamon (2 RBI). All five runs were scored with two outs.
Council Rock South Scott Molle: “Today at the plate we spread around the hits with seven girls collecting hits. Shannon Williams led the team with two clutch hits and scored two of our runs. Shannon has been a pillar at shortstop for us and is a leader we all can count on. Sophia Salamon had the big hit today when she lined a single to right center scoring two runs for us. Sophia also picked off a runner at first base today while behind the plate. Sophia is coming into her own behind the plate and when she’s hitting. Calm, cool and collected, and it’s been fun watching her get better throughout the year.
Rookie shines: “I do have to mention our leadoff hitter, freshman Jenna Pesapane. We asked Jenna to take over leading off for us about five games ago, and she has been nothing but spectacular and doing what is needed for us. Jenna gets the game and understands the roles we give her - she has been an incredible addition for us and gives us that spark at the top of the lineup. Not to mention she plays an incredible third base and has locked down the corner for us and was that player we needed to complement our team this year.”
Up next: Council Rock South (16-3, 8-1 SOL) will close out its regular season at Pennsbury on Tuesday.

PENNRIDGE 3, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 1
Averi Dockery allowed just two hits and no earned runs in another strong outing in the circle, but an unearned run in the first inning spotted the Patriots a 1-0 lead. The visiting Rams evened the score in the third and won it with two runs in the seventh.
Jadyn Gulbinski was the offensive hero, driving in a pair of runs with a clutch single in the seventh. Dockery struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh, allowing only a two-out walk.
“Jadyn has been hitting the ball very well and has been a key asset for us this year,” Pennridge coach Kristyn Marinelli said. “With the support from Emersyn Lesher behind her in the lineup and Averi’s 14 strikeouts, we made it happen today.”
By the numbers: Pennridge: Averi Dockery (W) (7 IP, 2H, 1R, 0ER, 3BB, 14K)
Jadyn Gulbinski (2-for-4, 2B, 2RBI), Emersyn Lesher (HR)
Key innings: Top of third: Dockery drew a one-out walk, and with two outs, Lesher lined an RBI triple to left field that plated Dockery.
Top of seventh: Payton Keyser drew a leadoff walk, advanced to second on a wild pitch and moved up to third on a groundout. Dockery was walked intentionally and advanced to second on a passed ball. Both runners scored when Gulbinski grounded a single to center.
Pennridge coach Kristyn Marinelli: “The top of the lineup really produced today. Sarah Zmuda kept mowing us down inning by inning. Whether it be a credit to being a lefty or spinning the ball or a combination of both, a big credit to her. Thankfully, we were able to string together a seventh inning rally with walks, contact hits, and a big, clutch hit by Jadyn Gulbinski.
“Averi battled through some adversity on the mound today, but she came up big in clutch situations. The 14 strikeouts certainly show how well she pitched despite battling through a tight strike zone.”
Up next: Pennridge (8-10, 3-5 SOL) will host Central Bucks West for its Senior Night game on Tuesday. Central Bucks East (7-10, 1-8) will travel to North Penn on Tuesday.

ABINGTON 10, HARRY S TRUMAN 5
The Ghosts trailed 4-2 heading into the bottom of the third inning but took a lead they would not lose with a five-run outburst. For the Ghosts, it was their third win in five games.
“These wins at the end of the season are huge,” Abington coach Tina Hesdon said. “We’re still fighting for a possible shot at the playoffs. No matter what happens, our goal is to close out the season playing our best softball.”
Abington’s Hailey Hernandez was 3-for-4 with a solo home run in the fifth inning.
Sam Wenhold earned the complete game win, allowing six hits and five runs (two earned) while striking out seven and walking two. She notched the 100th strikeout of the season and 250th of her career in the win.
By the numbers: Abington: Hailey Hernandez (3-for-4, HR, 1RBI, 2R). Zoe Kelly (1-for-1, 2RBI), Danica Santiago (1-for-3, 2RBI, 1R)

Key inning: Bottom of third: Trailing 4-2, the Ghosts erupted for five runs. Grace Meehan and Bella Lent led off the inning with back-to-back singles. Paige Holden drew a walk, Santiago singled, and with two outs, Lily Rodgers singled to plate a pair of runs. Rodgers scored on a wild pitch, and the Ghosts led 7-4.
Abington coach Tina Hesdon:
--Props: “Hailey Hernandez came up big again, both offensively and defensively—going 3-for-4 with another home run, two runs scored, and an RBI.
“Sam Wenhold threw a complete game with seven strikeouts, bringing her to 250 career varsity strikeouts and marking her 100th strikeout of the season. She has worked so hard and seeing her finish this strong is a shining moment for our season. Sam also collected a hit for us today.
“With two of our starting outfielders injured, Grace Meehan seamlessly took over center field, moving from right. Bella Lent was called up from JV in the middle of her game and stepped into right field for Zoe Kelly (CF), who had already contributed with a hit and two RBIs—tough shoes to fill. Bella executed two beautiful plays in the field and also contributed offensively with one hit and two runs scored.
“Lily Rodgers also had a great game offensively. She had a hit, two RBIs, and two stolen bases.
“Danica Santiago filled the DP role and helped us out, going 1-for-3 with a run and two RBIs.
“Paige Holden has been an unsung hero for us at first (base) with a near perfect fielding percentage. She made some excellent plays today.
“Sammi Clewell also contributed offensively with going 1-3 with a run and an RBI.”

PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 5, MOUNT SAINT JOSEPH ACADEMY 2
Madison Moran starred in both the circle and at the plate.
The senior pitcher earned the complete game win, allowing two hits and two runs - both unearned. She struck out five.
Moran – who took a no-hitter into the seventh - retired 18 or the first 19 batters she faced, allowing only a leadoff walk in the third inning. If that wasn’t enough, she hit a double that plated the first two runs of the game in the third inning.
PW upped its lead to 3-0 in the fifth when Anna Powel doubled home Gia Bono, who singled, and two runs in the top of the seventh put the Colonials on top 5-0. The Mount scored a pair of unearned runs in the seventh.

Plymouth Whitemarsh coach Mike Perez:
Moran delivers: “I can’t say enough about the effort of Madison Moran today, both in the circle and at the plate. She took a no-hitter into the seventh inning vs a solid Mount line-up.
