SOL Softball Wrap (5-14-25)

Neshaminy and Hatboro-Horsham were winners in SOL softball action Wednesday.

SOL Patriot Division
NESHAMINY 18, BENSALEM 8 (5 innings)

Zahmira Coppola-Miller had herself a productive day out of the cleanup spot.
The Redskins’ junior slugger had three hits – all doubles – and drove in five runs to lead a potent Neshaminy attack. Kendall McCafferty added a 3-for-4 effort with a double and two RBIs on a day that saw the Redskins pound out 13 hits in the abbreviated mercy rule win.
Neshaminy took a 13-1 lead heading into the top of the third inning, and after the Owls – sparked by a two-run single from Adrianna Vargas – scored four in the bottom of the inning, the Redskins responded with five runs over the next two innings to bring an early end to the contest.
Adding two hits for Neshaminy was Morgan Leonhauser.

Key inning: Top of third: Jill Rickards drew a leadoff walk, and one out later, Entenman walked. A double by Dalton plated Rikards, and Miller drew a walk. Entenman scored on a wild pitch, and two runs scored on Coppola-Miller’s double. McCaffferty followed with an RBI double, and after Rickards – in her second at-bat of the inning – singled, Arista Fine hit an RBI single, putting the Redskins on top 13-1.
Neshaminy coach Sarah Martocci: “The weather was certainly questionable today, but our girls did a really nice job offensively to come out and score so many runs.  We were able to get a lot of girls in the game today which is always really nice to be able to do.  Adriana (Superka) pitched a very nice game on the mound today, and handled the rainy conditions like a pro.  We are looking to keep the bats hot as we move forward.
Up next: Neshaminy (10-9, 5-5 SOL) will travel to Boyertown for a non-league game Thursday. Bensalem closed out its season with an overall record of 4-16.

HATBORO-HORSHAM 12, WISSAHICKON 2 (5 innings)

The Hatters opened up a 5-0 lead after two innings, and took a 6-1 lead into the top of the fifth when they erupted for six runs on their way to the mercy rule win.
Adrianna DeLeon and Madison Karpovich led the Hatters’ 12-hit attack with 3-for-4 efforts at the plate.
In the circle, Kennedy Conn allowed just one hit in the abbreviated mercy rule win.

Ravi scored on a passed ball and Daniels advanced to second. Daniels scored on a fielder’s choice by Conn. A third run scored on Molly Harrington’s single.
