SOL Patriot Division
COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 4, PENNSBURY 3
The Golden Hawks made it official, notching a hard-fought win over the Falcons to clinch at least a share of the title. The game was played on Neshaminy’s turf field while Council Rock North – due to field conditions - has not played its final league game against Harry S Truman, a game that will determine if the Golden Hawks are sole or co-champions.
“In our season finale, we successfully captured our second consecutive and only second Patriot division championship in school history,” CR South coach Scott Molle said. “The girls had established preseason goals, and we have accomplished several of them today with this win.
“Lexi Waring delivered another outstanding performance on the mound, striking out 10 and surrendering only four hits. When Lexi faced adversity, she demonstrated her resilience by finding the necessary pitches to secure crucial outs. Her current level of pitching is exceptional, and it will be beneficial to rest her until Wednesday.”
The Falcons did not make it easy for the Hawks and had the tying run on third and winning run on second with one out in the seventh, but Waring came up with back-to-back strikeouts to close out the game.
The Hawks took a 2-0 lead in the third when Julia Scannapieco hit a two-run blast to center field in the third inning and added a run in the fourth.
The Falcons pulled to within 3-2 after Jenna Thompson’s two-run single in the fifth. The two teams exchanged runs in the sixth.
Scannapieco was the offensive star, finishing with two hits and three RBIs. Veronica Houk had a pair of hits.
Waring earned the complete game win in the circle for the Hawks, who will have an opening round bye in the District 1 6A Tournament next week.

--Scannapieco delivers: “Julia Scannapieco continued to excel at the plate, hitting another home run and contributing 3 RBIs. Her impressive statistics this season are a testament to her hard work, and we are confident that she will remain focused heading into the playoffs. Julia's senior leadership has been invaluable, setting a positive example for our underclassmen that will have a lasting impact on South's program.”
--Captains set tone: “Our team captains, Shannon Williams, Lexi Waring, and Molly Gabriele, have been outstanding role models and leaders, consistently demonstrating the qualities that the team admires and respects.
