QUAKERTOWN 5, WISSAHICKON 0
Syd Andrews worked her magic in the circle in Tuesday’s win, allowing just one hit in the complete game shutout win. She struck out 10 and did not walk a batter.
“It was a very good team win today,” Quakertown coach Dave Scott said. “Syd was lights out. She had her change-up working early in the game, and she really kept hitters off balance with it.”
Andrews helped her own cause at the plate with a 2-for-3 day that included a two-out single that plated Ava Beal, giving the Panthers a 1-0 lead. Andrews’ hit would turn out to be the game-winner. The clutch hit was set up when Beal drew a leadoff walk, advanced to second on Julia Reich’s sacrifice bunt. Katie Muller collected an infield single, and Beal raced home on Andrews’ single.
“It was a good start to the game – a leadoff walk by Ava Beal, a sacrifice bunt by Julia Reich, who was a last minute insertion into the starting lineup, and a key two-out RBI single by Syd. I think that really set the tone for the game.”
The Panthers spent the better part of the game clinging to that 1-0 lead until the top of the fifth when they erupted for four runs – all with two outs. Andrews lined a single to center, and Maya Hellyer was safe on an error. Carli Maha was hit by a pitch to load the bases. An error on Grace Baker’s fly ball to right field emptied the bases, and Baker wound up on third. Emma Hilton doubled to left to plate Baker for a 5-0 Panther lead.
“We put some key insurance runs on the board,” Scott said. “Overall, it was a really well-played game.
“We did well in all three aspects today and that's something we've been struggling with a bit. It was really nice to see the team respond to getting back to league play, and they set a great tone for an important matchup tomorrow versus PW.”
Luca Penna was 1-for-3 and collected the Trojans’ lone hit.
Danielle Ciliberto absorbed the loss, allowing six hits and five runs (one earned) while striking out 10 and walking one.
Quakertown (11-1, 10-0 SOL) will travel to Plymouth Whitemarsh on Wednesday, and Wissahickon (10-4, 9-2) will host Hatboro-Horsham on Wednesday. Just one game separates these four division rivals, and both of Wednesday’s games loom large.

PENNSBURY 12, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 2 (5 innings)
Pennsbury showed off its depth in Tuesday’s crossover win as the bottom of its lineup accounted for eight of the team’s 13 hits and seven of its RBIs.
“That was Murph’s call today – he said, ‘Wait until you see five through nine, they’re going to explode today,’” Pennsbury coach Frank McSherry said of assistant coach Dave Murphy’s prediction. “It was a good day for them.”
The Bucks put a run on the board in the second inning when Avery Rubenstein, who singled, scored on a two-out single by Julia Thomas. The Falcons answered with a run in the bottom of the third, thanks to an RBI double by Taylor Askey.
The Bucks went on top 2-1 in the fourth when Thomas delivered her second clutch two-out hit – a double that plated Bailey Demusz, who singled. That lead was short-lived as the Falcons exploded for 10 runs in the fourth inning.
Highlights of the inning included a grand slam by Askey as well as a solo home run by Rowan Mulholland. Also, Ava Storlazzi hit a two-run double, Sammy Raub singled and drove in a pair, and Quinn McGonigle had an RBI single.
Askey finished a productive day 3-for-3 with a home run, double, one run scored and five RBIs. Raub was 2-for-3 with a run scored and three RBIs, and Storlazzi was 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs. Presley Foote was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
McGonigle notched the complete game win, allowing six hits and two runs with six strikeouts and no walks.
Thomas led the Bucks with a 2-for-2 effort that included a double and two RBIs. Ana Glemser also had a double.

NORTH PENN 18, HARRY S TRUMAN 1 (5 innings)
Julia Shearer pretty much did it all in Tuesday’s win.
She not only notched the win in the circle, allowing two hits and one run while striking out 11 and walking none, she also hit for the cycle – a rarity at any level. The University of Maryland commit was 4-for-5 with a home run, triple, double and single, four runs scored, four RBIs and a stolen base.
Shearer led off the first with a single and stole second. Sarah Saboscik followed with a single, and after the Knights’ catcher advance to second (defensive indifference), the Knights had runners on second and third for Annabelle Smink, who singled to bring them both home. A pair of Tiger errors allowed two more runs to score, and the Knights led 4-0.
In the second, Reyna Doherty singled and scored on Brie Wilmot’s two-out single. The Knights put the game completely out of reach with a six-run third inning.
All told, the Knights pounded out 17 hits. In addition to Shearer, Saboscik (3-for-4, 2B, 3 runs, 2 RBIs), Smink (3-for-5, 2 runs, 3 RBIs) and Jaclyn Diaz (2-for-2, 2 runs) all had multiple hits. Casey Sokol was 1-for-2 with a double and three RBIs. Lexi Nyce was 1-for- 4 with a solo home run, two runs scored and an RBI. Wilmot had a pair of RBIs and two stolen bases, and Gianna Cimino had one RBI.
North Penn (13-1, 9-1 SOL) will travel to Central Bucks West on Wednesday, and Harry S Truman (4-8, 3-8) will host Council Rock North on Wednesday.

ABINGTON 7, LOWER MORELAND 3
Aneesa Rohrer had herself a day to remember.
The Ghosts’ leadoff batter smashed a grand slam in the second inning and finished the day with three hits and five RBIs. Teammate Ellie Pierce also had three hits as the duo accounted for six of their team’s nine hits.
“We had excellent performances from one of our co-captains, Aneesa Rohrer, along with Ellie Pierce at the plate today,” Abington coach Bob Baginski said. “Aneesa is really thriving at the plate and on defense. As a team, our defense continues to improve every day.”
After the two teams exchanged runs in the first inning, the Ghosts exploded for four runs in the second. Pierce singled to center to lead off the inning, and Ella O’Rourke and Ashley Reilly drew back-to-back walks to load the bases. One out later with the bases still loaded, Rohrer stepped to the plate and hit an inside-the-park home run to center field to give the Ghosts a 5-1 lead.
In the bottom of the third, Hailey Hernandez and Pierce collected back-to-back singles to lead off the inning. O’Rourke drew a walk to load the bases, and when Rohrer was hit by a pitch, Reilly scored to put the Ghosts on top 6-1. They opened up a 7-1 lead before the Lions scored a pair of runs in the sixth inning.
“Lower Moreland played us tough,” Baginski said. “Pitching well again today was freshman Sam Wenhold with help and support from freshman catcher Hailey Hernandez. We needed a win today, and it was a team win with lots of contributions.”
Wenhold notched the complete game win, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out six and walking two.
Also for the Ghosts, Lauren Everitt and Sydney Steiner contributed one RBI each.
Abington (6-7, 5-6 SOL) will travel to Upper Dublin on Wednesday, and Lower Moreland (6-7, 3-7) will host Upper Moreland on Wednesday.

PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 5, OWEN J ROBERTS 4
The Colonials pulled off an impressive road win over a Wildcat squad that had just two losses and was firmly established as a top 10 team in the District One 6A power rankings. With the come-from-behind win, PW vaulted into the 10th spot in the latest power rankings. The Wildcats are eighth.
“What a game,” PW coach Mike Perez said. “This team has no quit. Down early, they never quit. They always pick each other up and never give in. It wasn’t the big offensive game we’ve been having recently, but we chipped away, made adjustments, and pulled out a huge win.”
The Wildcats scored a pair of runs in the first on a two-run blast by Sophia Winnick, but the Colonials cut that lead in half with a run in the third. Caelin Kosvitch drew a one-out walk, and Molly Moore followed with a single. Moore’s courtesy runner was caught stealing, and Kosvitch stole home on the play.
In the bottom of the inning, the Wildcats added a pair of runs to go on top 4-1, and they took that lead into the fifth when the Colonials evened the score with a three-run outburst.
Sam Skivo reached first on a third strike passed ball, and Kosvitch singled. Moore’s single to center loaded the bases. With one out, Rian Reed drew a bases-loaded walk that brought Kosvitch home. Haylie Lindley’s single plated a pair of runs, knotting the score 4-4.
With one out in the sixth, Kosvitch was hit by a pitch and immediately stole second. She scored on a single by Moore, and the Colonials had a lead they would not lose.
The Wildcats put a pair on board in the sixth, but Moore got out of the jam, and in the seventh, she struck out the side to seal the big win.
Moore was 3-for-4 with a run scored and RBI out of the leadoff spot, and Lindley was 3-for-4.
“Haylie Lindley came up big with three hits,” Perez said. “Caelin Kosvitch got on base three times and scored three runs, and Molly Moore had three hits and kept a tough lineup at bay.”
Moore notched the complete game win, allowing six hits and four runs (three earned) while striking out nine and walking a pair.
Winnick led the Wildcats with a 2-for-3 effort that included a double, home run, one run scored and four RBIs.
“Winnick hit two rockets early to give them a lead, and Molly made some great adjustments the next two times through the lineup,” Perez said. “That kid is an absolute bulldog on the mound…no one I’d rather have on the mound in a game like this.
“I’m so proud of every single girl on this roster for their positive attitudes and grit.”

GWYNEDD MERCY 12, UPPER DUBLIN 7
The Flying Cardinals twice battled back from deficits, rallying from a 2-0 deficit to take a 4-2 lead and then fighting back from a 7-4 hole to even the score 7-7 in the top of the fifth. The two teams were still deadlocked heading into the bottom of the sixth when the Monarchs plated five runs – all unearned – to notch the non-league win in a battle of neighboring rivals.
The Monarchs took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, and the Cardinals answered with a run in the top of the second when Kaitlyn Zacharia doubled to right and scored on a single by Kaelin Penna to make it a 2-1 game. They scored three more runs in the third to go on top 4-2.
The Cardinals benefitted from three GMA miscues as well as singles from Madden Reilly, Chloe Foster and Brianna Kesslick (RBI).
The Monarchs regained the lead in the bottom of the inning, plating five runs, but the Cardinals once again staged a comeback, knotting the score 7-7 with three runs in the fifth that included an RBI single by Foster, a double by Kesslick and RBI groundouts by Zacharia and Penna.
The Monarchs won it with a five-run sixth.
Reilly (2-for-4, 2 runs), Foster (2-for-3, 2 runs, RBI) and Kesslick (2-for-4, 2B, run, RBI) had multiple hits for the Cardinals.

VILLA JOSEPH MARIE 15, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 5 (6 innings)
The Indians took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first only to see the Jems erupt for six runs in the bottom of the inning. It was the first of two six-run innings for the Jems, who went on to earn the non-league win.
“Villa did a great job of putting the ball in play and finding holes all day,” Rock North coach Susan Yee said. “Their leadoff batter was a near impossible out along with driving two balls out of the yard. “
“We took a little time to adjust our approach at the plate today with the major difference in pitching speed and style from yesterday's game with Pennridge to today's non-league contest.”
In the second, Jayme Bordner delivered an RBI double that plated Taylor Gearhart, who reached first on an error.
The Jems took a 7-1 lead into the fifth inning when the Indians scored three runs to make it a 7-4 game. Kandace Kiskurno, Paige Matthews and Emma Zoldi opened the inning with back-to-back-to-back singles. With two outs and the bases still loaded, Sofia Shields drove in a pair with a line drive single to left. Gearhart’s RBI single pulled the Indians to within three. That’s as close as they would get.
Zoldi’s 3-for-3 effort at the plate out of the leadoff spot included a double, one run scored and an RBI. Kiskurno was also 3-for-3 with a double, and Gearhart was 2-for-3 with a double, run scored and RBI.
“Emma Zoldi and Kandace Kiskurno both did a great job of staying disciplined and just focusing on stroking the ball on the sweet spot to make things happen,” Yee said. “Taylor Gearhart also made fantastic adjustments from her first at-bat to her second to produce a very nice offensive output on the day. The girls unfortunately ran into some tough luck when we had multiple rallies quickly squashed by line-drive double plays to crush our early inning momentum.
“We are looking to build on the lessons we learned today as we move back into conference play against Truman tomorrow.”
Council Rock North (0-10, 0-9 SOL) will travel to Harry S Truman on Wednesday.
