National Conference
Council Rock North 41, Council Rock South 27
The Indians pretty much assured themselves of their first conference championship since 2009.
“We were pretty pumped,” said North coach Tom Vivacqua.
When those teams wrestle, there is always a packed house.
In honor of his contributions to the Council Rock Wrestling Association, that supplies both Council Rocks with their superb wrestlers, Terry Donahue was presented a service award.
“It’s always a cool night,” said South coach Brad Silimperi, who said he wasn’t surprised by the outcome. “It was actually the way we had it figured out.”
South got its wins from “the usual suspects,” as Silimperi described them. They would be Dan Martoccio (106), Billy Rappo (113), Mackie Moore (126), P.J. Steinmetz (195) and Tommy Trampe (285).
The Indians closed the match with four straight pins from James Dutrow (132), Tyler Kelly (138), Aldan Ely (145) and Chris Davis (152).
“It’s no secret that we give up too many bonus points,” said Silimperi.
Vivacqua also credited two wrestlers who fought hard and didn’t give up bonus points against top-notch wrestlers.
Mike Jeronis lost to Martoccio 5-0 at 106 and Andrew Parker only lost 3-0 to Moore at 126.

The Falcons cruised to the win behind Eric Mongiello’s decision at 106, Austin Roth’s pin at 132, Dave Mills’ decision at 152, and Mark Holbert’s decision at 170.
Perhaps the best victory of the night came from heavyweight Luke Zaccarelli, who won 4-3 in an ultimate rideout.
“It was a great match,” said Pennsbury coach Philip Kealy.
Neshaminy 34, William Tennent 34 (Neshaminy wins on Criteria H)
Neshaminy led the Panthers 34-30 heading into the final 152-pound bout of the night.
In a wild third period, Tennent’s Boris Sokhiev was up 4-2. After a flurry of points, including two three-point near falls, Sokhiev was declared a 13-4 winner over Pat Hastings, which tied the match at 34-34.
After huddling over the scorebook, Neshaminy was declared the winner on Criteria H—most first points scored.
Coach Dan Winter was grateful to his manager, who had circled all the first points scored. The Tennent manager had not.
“It was a great win,” said Winter. “The kids wrestled well.”
He cited Joe Simcox’s match against the Panthers’ Kevin Flack as a key bout. Although Simcox lost 6-4, it was important that he didn’t give up any bonus points.
Also wrestling well for the Redskins were Sam Rudolph (decision at 113), Harry Wilson (pin at 126), Nathan Russell (pin at 138), Ryan O’Connor (major at 145), TJ Magdelinskas (decision at 160).
Abington 43, Bensalem 26
Abington coach John Gillespie was expecting a closer match. Brandon Scheitrum started the Ghosts off with a 17-6 major at 195. Angel Carlo recorded a huge win at 285 and the Ghosts got pins from Mike Molz (126) and Mike McCaughey (132) and a tech fall from Adrian Deangelo (138).
The Ghosts lost just one bout from 126 through 195.
“We made a couple of moves here and there,” said Gallagher. “They have some scrappy kids.”
Continental Conference
Central Bucks South 48, Central Bucks East 21
In a battle of league unbeatens, the Titans all but wrapped up the Continental Conference title.
“The kids came through,” said South coach Craig Deacon.
The very first bout set the tone when the Titans’ Bill Muzika beat Steve Tilsner, 3-0. In a battle of jayvees at 195, South’s Josh Berg decisioned Mike James, 9-5; Nick Cassalia, who bumped up to 285, followed with a fall; and Chad Haegele added another six points at 106 to give the Titans a 24-0 lead.
South also got a pin from Bryan McDonald at 152, a decision from Dylan Swan at 160 and a fall from Dom Rigous in the finale.
East’s Evan Wilson pinned at 113 and Francesco Fabbozi had a fall at 145. Dan Driver also pinned at 138.
South is now a perfect 5-0 in the league, while East falls to 4-1.

CB West won eight of the14 bouts, including falls from Ben Tracey (170) and Brett Kimberly (195) and a major by Seth Ehlo at 152. The Bucks also collected two forfeits.
“We wrestled real flat,” said HH coach Glen Kaiser. “We made a lot of mistakes. I think we overlooked them. They wrestled well.”

Quakertown 38, North Penn 36
With a few kids back in the lineup, Quakertown pulled off an apparent upset.
“We knew it would be close,” said North Penn coach Rob Shettsline, who on paper had figured a one-point victory.
A key bout came at 120 where Rich Liberio was leading Alex Brulliea when Brulliea caught him in a spladle and pinned him. That was the start of six straight wins for the Panthers. Matt Stoneback’s 11-2 major decision of Riley McFadden at 152 sealed the win before the Knights’ Alex Price pinned in the final bout.

American Conference
Upper Moreland 36, Upper Dublin 23
Upper Moreland won the battle for second place in the league, a position it has become all too familiar with in the past few years.
The Golden Bears won nine bouts.
“I knew it would be tough,” said Upper Moreland coach Dave Bolich. “Things had to go right. We kept it close and didn’t get pinned in places and a couple of tossups went our way.”
Four of those tossups came at 138, 145, 152 and 220.
Dom DeLaurentis avenged a loss to Drew Betteridge at the Wetzel Tournament with a 6-1 decision. Anthony Dill did the same thing, turning the tables on Derek Jones with a narrow 10-9 decision at 145.
The Bears’ Justin Haney also defeated Jacob Haney 6-3 at 152.
But perhaps the biggest surprise of the night was Sebastian Medina’s knock-down, drag -out marathon with the Cardinals’ Devon Dhoble at 220. Medina survived to win 16-13.
Norristown 60, Cheltenham 12
Eight of 11 matches wrestled were decided by falls. Cheltenham’s Sean Bradley (126) and Connor Barton (152) won two of those for the Panthers’ lone points.
Heavyweight turned out to be the closest bout of the night, with Norristown’s Shaheed Hill slipping past Dwayne Bowser, 3-2.
