Sterling Limousine and Transportation Services of Wrightstown is proud to recognize the Players of the Game for SOL teams that are part of each week’s SuburbanOneSports.com’s Featured Games. During the postseason, Sterling Limo will recognize Players of the Game for each of the winning teams.
#13 CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH at #4 PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH (CB South 52, PW 24)
Sterling Limousine Offensive Player of the Game – Matt Johns, Central Bucks South
CB South’s senior quarterback completed 16-of-22 passes for a total of 210 yards, which included touchdown passes of 24 and 42 yards.
CB South coach Dave Rackovan says: “Matt Johns might have played his best game of the year. He was real efficient, and he just made the right reads and made the big throws when we needed them. He really did an unbelievable job of getting us to the right plays.”
Sterling Limousine Defensive Player of the Game – Tyler Paradysz, Central Bucks South
The Titans’ junior defensive lineman had eight tackles, including two for a loss. Paradysz also had a sack.
CB South coach Dave Rackovan says: “He had a good game, and he has been a stalwart at defensive end all year. He’s been doing a great job for us. Every week he’s gotten better. He understands what needs to be done, and he’s a real physical player. He’s just taken on a leadership role on the defensive line.”
Sterling Limousine Special Teams Player of the Game – Evan Stahl, Central Bucks South
Stahl was seven-for-seven on extra points and also nailed a 37-yard field goal to send the Titans into halftime with a 31-10 lead.
CB South coach Dave Rackovan says: “His field goal gave us a ton of momentum going into the half. We got the ball with a minute-something left and took it down and kicked a field goal. He’s been a great surprise for us.”
#15 PENNSBURY at #2 ABINGTON (Pennsbury 35, Abington 24)
Sterling Limousine Offensive Player of the Game – Daquan Mack, Pennsbury
The Falcons’ running back had 18 carries for 110 yards to lead a Falcon rushing attack that had 182 yards on the ground.
Pennsbury coach Galen Snyder says: “He had a big game for us. He’s gotten better and better as the year’s gone by.”
Sterling Limousine Defensive Player of the Game – Zach Ganie, Pennsbury
The senior captain led the Falcons’ defense with 11 tackles. Ganie also had an interception for a touchdown that gave the Falcons an early 7-0 lead.
Pennsbury coach Galen Snyder says: “Zach has been a steady player for us all year at defensive end.”
Sterling Limousine Special Teams Player of the Game – Shawn Pepper, Pennsbury
It was Pepper’s 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the second quarter that gave the Falcons a lead they would not lose. It was just his second game returning kickoffs for the Falcons.
Pennsbury coach Galen Snyder says: “Shawn had the big kickoff return for us, and any time you can score on defense or special teams, it’s important, especially in close games.”
#11 NORTH PENN at #6 BAYARD RUSTIN (North Penn 48, Rustin 21)
Sterling Limousine Offensive Player of the Game – Dan Gevirtz, North Penn
The Knights’ senior wide receiver was pressed into emergency duty at running back when Kyle Mayfield left the game with an injury early in the third quarter. Gevirtz gained 205 yards on the ground and scored on touchdown runs of 42 and 11 yards. He also hauled in a 44-yard pass.
North Penn coach Dick Beck says: “I told him after the game the only person that can stop him is me by not giving him the ball. I knew he could do something like that. The problem is he’s our best receiver, and we’re a more balanced team with him at receiver and Kyle Mayfield at running back because Kyle is a (heck) of a running back. I knew we had a pretty good backup if Kyle had problems. He gets to the hole very fast, and he’s got great vision and, obviously, speed. If he breaks the first wave, look out.”
Sterling Limousine Defensive Player of the Game – Shayne Watson, North Penn
Watson recovered a fumble and was an integral part of a Knight defense that allowed just seven points after Rustin scored 14 first-quarter points.
North Penn coach Dick Beck says: “He has been playing defensive end where -if you run to his side - it’s hard to run off tackle because he’s beating his blocks, plus it’s hard to turn the corner on him because he’s really playing the edge very well. He’s absolutely our best pass rusher.”
Sterling Limousine Special Teams Player of the Game – Brandon Mandas, North Penn
Mandas converted six extra points and was effective on kickoffs and punts for the Knights, repeatedly pinning Rustin deep in its own territory.
North Penn coach Dick Beck says: “When he kicked the ball off – if it didn’t go out of the end zone, it was very deep. We tackled them three times inside the 20, which is a big goal for us. Plus, he had the 60-yard punt that stopped inside the five.”
#14 NESHAMINY at #3 UNIONVILLE (Neshaminy 28, Unionville 0)
Sterling Limousine Offensive Player of the Game – Sean Ulmer, Neshaminy
The Redskins’ senior running back had 20 carries for 133 yards and two touchdowns. He also had one reception for 19 yards.
Neshaminy coach Mark Schmidt says: “Early in the game, we got a turnover and scored and then blocked a punt. On the first play, he fumbled it. The ball was on the 30-yard line, and to have an early fumble, he was upset with himself. The defense held them, and on our next series, Sean got the ball, and he made a couple of really nice runs, and we took it all the way in the end zone. He’s been playing great. Some of the yards he’s gotten this year have been awful tough yards. Every week he goes out and gives his best, and his best has been darn good.”
Sterling Limousine Defensive Player of the Game – Steve Olenski, Neshaminy
The junior defensive lineman had seven solo tackles and one assist. He also had one pass breakup.
Neshaminy coach mark Schmidt says: “He made a couple of really, really good plays, and he did super. Steve actually got benched halfway through the season, and he asked for a second chance. He hasn’t looked back since. He’s played very well. He’s a great kid. Ever since he’s come back, every week he’s done something big, and he made a couple of super plays for us on Friday night. It was a great job on his part.”
Sterling Limousine Special Teams Players of the Game – Bryan Reice & Ron Smith, Neshaminy
Reice punted four time for 157 yards, averaging 39.5 yards a punt with a long of 60 yards. Two of his punts were downed inside the 20. Smith came up with a blocked punt.
Neshaminy coach Mark Schmidt says: “Bryan had a couple of super punts, and we had good coverage, and he really flipped the field for us. Bryan has been steady for us all year. He’s done a great job.
“Ron not only blocked a punt early, but he had two real nice coverage tackles on kickoffs. He has really taken it upon himself, and he and Tyler Green have been guys that have done a really good job covering kicks for us. It’s an attitude thing, and he’s really been good that way.”
#16 UPPER DUBLIN at #1 COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH (CR South 34, Upper Dublin 7)
Sterling Limousine Offensive Players of the Game – Justin Flor, Mike Yost, Tom Trampe, Andrew Cohen & Eric Gallo, Council Rock South
The Golden Hawks’ offensive line – coached by Mike Pacitti and Don Harm – provided the blocking for a Rock South ground game that accumulated 496 yards and 513 yards of total offense.
CR South coach Vince Bedesem says: “With the consistent play of Justin Flor, Mike Yost, Tom Trampe, Andrew Cohen and Eric Gallo, our backs are able to have the kind of days that they do. We always talk about the tremendous job Brian Donnelly does with reading our offense, but it starts with the offensive line calls and their ability to know who to block and, most importantly, know who NOT to block in order for us to run our triple option.”
Sterling Limousine Defensive Player of the Game – Cory Wilkenson, Council Rock South
The Golden Hawks’ senior defensive back had an interception and was part of a defensive unit that limited standout quarterback Andrew Derr to just 14 completions on 35 attempts.
Coach Vince Bedesem says: “Cory has been a vital part of the defense all year long. Sometimes you don’t hear much about him because he is simply doing his job. People don’t throw his way. Cory’s play has been very consistent all year long, and when the opportunities arise, he is there to make big plays.”
Sterling Limousine Special Teams Player of the Game – Ian McDermott, Council Rock South
McDermott has been a key contributor on Rock South’s punt and kickoff coverage teams and also is a main component on the Golden Hawks’ kickoff returns.
CR South coach Vince Bedesem says: “Ian is an all-around player who gets significant playing time on both offense and defense. He is a great athlete that can play a multitude of positions. On any given night, Ian will play outside linebacker, inside linebacker, fullback and halfback, plus he is on 90 percent of our special teams.”
