Sterling Limo Players of the Game (Wk2)

Sterling Limousine and Transportation Services of Wrightstown is proud to recognize the Players of the Game for SOL teams that are part of each week’s SuburbanOneSports.com’s Featured Games.

ABINGTON at PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH (Plymouth Whitemarsh 45, Abington 17)
Sterling Limousine Co-Offensive Player of the Game – Corey Kelly, Plymouth Whitemarsh
The senior running back rushed for a team high 134 yards on 21 carries with one touchdown. His 47-yard TD run in the first quarter put the Colonials on the scoreboard, and they never looked back.
Coach Dan Chang says: “Corey is the heart and soul of our offense. He’s a guy who we give the most carries to. He’s also the one that takes the most physical punishment. He gets hit on ‘D’ every single play. He plays both ways for us and is just a hard-nosed kid. He will run through a wall for you. When we need tough yards, he’s the kid we give the ball to. When we’re in a tough situation, he’s the kid who gets the ball.

Sterling Limousine Co-Offensive Player of the Game – Terry Brown, Plymouth Whitemarsh
The senior running back was the perfect complement to Kelly, accumulating 126 yards on 15 carries. In addition to his touchdown runs of 14 and 11 yards, Brown also had a defensive touchdown, picking up a fumble that Kelly forced and taking it 65 yards for a touchdown.
Coach Dan Chang says: “Terry is a game breaker for us. He was hurt a little bit last year, so he didn’t get as much playing time, but he’s an explosive athlete. He’s got great speed. He’s probably the fastest kid on our team, and when you give him the ball, he could break it at any time. To complement his speed, he’s also a very powerful runner. He finishes runs and very rarely does one person tackle him.”

Sterling Limousine Defensive Player of the Game – Cory Grabowsky, Plymouth Whitemarsh
The senior cornerback had a pair of interceptions on a night that saw PW’s defense limit the Ghosts to just 53 yards passing.
Coach Dan Chang says: “He’s a first-year starter, and he’s had a very good first two games for us. In two games, he has four interceptions. He had two great interceptions against Abington that really were momentum changers for us. Also, it seemed like Abington was trying to pick on him – they threw deep on him many times, and he didn’t give up one of them. He’s one of the guys that really saved us.”

Sterling Limousine Special Teams Player of the Game – Connor Hanlon, Plymouth Whitemarsh
Hanlon had two huge special teams tackles in the open field on kickoffs for the Colonials.
Coach Dan Chang says:  “We struggled a little bit in our kicking game, and our
kickoffs weren’t quite where we wanted them, but Connor was there on all of them, making huge solo tackles in the open field. That’s a really difficult thing to do, but those were some potential big plays that he saved.”

UPPER MORELAND at QUAKERTOWN (Upper Moreland 10, Quakertown 0)
Sterling Limousine Offensive Player of the Game – Robert Knox, Upper Moreland
The senior running back rushed for 127 yards on 20 carries to lead an effective ground game for the Golden Bears.
Coach Dave Heying says:  “A lot of his success is due to our offensive line play. Chris Kitchen is a good fullback, and we also have Vince Cardelli, who blocks really well. With the offensive line, Kitchen and Cardelli, they’re hitting pretty good holes for him. Robert is a good running back, and he’s a good overall athlete. Even when there’s not a hole, he’s making a hole.”

Sterling Limousine Defensive Player of the Game – Chris Kitchen, Upper Moreland
The senior inside linebacker had three tackles for losses and seven solo tackles to help lead a Golden Bear defense that shut out the Panthers and allowed just 82 yards of total offense.
Coach Dave Heying says:  “Chris Kitchen is our solid inside linebacker. He doesn’t come off the field ever. He’s just a beast of a kid. When he hits you, you feel it. Both Knox and Kitchen are special football players. You don’t get a lot of those kids ever, and to have them together in the same class on the same team is real good. I feel real comfortable that they’ll do what we’re coaching them to do. Kitchen controls the front seven, and Knox controls the back four. Those two guys make sure everybody else is in the right spot and doing what they’re supposed to do.”

Sterling Limousine Special Teams Player of the Game – Tom Robinson, Upper Moreland
The Golden Bears’ junior punter was effective in pinning Quakertown deep in its own territory, averaging 38.0 yards on four punts.
Coach Dave Heying says: “He had several great punts. I don’t think they had any yards return. We angle kick it, and Tom did a great job. Part of the reason we were able to have a shutout was we didn’t give Quakertown the greatest field position, so they would really have to sustain a long drive and put a bunch of series together. Every time we needed to punt, he pinned them deep. That’s why we got our safety in the fourth quarter because they were backed up, and we didn’t let them get out of there.”
