Sterling Limousine and Transportation Services of Wrightstown is proud to recognize the Players of the Week. Players are chosen based on the nomination of SOL coaches and football contributors.

STERLING LIMOUSINE AND TRANSPORTATION
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Sterling Limo Offensive Players of the Game:
First Star: Ricky Johns, North Penn –
The senior wide receiver had eight catches for 187 yards and three touchdowns in the Knights’ 42-13 win over Central Bucks South. Johns also was a force on the defensive side of the football, finishing with four tackles – one for a loss – and a pass breakup.
Coach Dick Beck says:  “A lot of his catches were catch and runs. His second touchdown pass (for 41 yards) was on a little corner route, and he spun the safety around. Reece (Undinski) hit him in stride, and he just walked into the end zone. Obviously, he’s a big target (6-3), and what helps him are the other weapons on the team. When you’ve got Justis Henley, Jake Hubler and Jon Haynes, it’s really hard to double him. On defense, he’s been playing our Knight position – it’s the strong side outside linebacker. He’s got a great feel for getting in the zone and reading the quarterback’s eyes. He’s been very solid for us all year.”

First star: Matt Szczypiorski, Central Bucks East – In his first game back after returning from an injury, the senior quarterback had the game of his career, throwing for 260 yards and two touchdowns after an early interception to lead CB East to a 37-36 win over Souderton. He also ran for a pair of touchdowns, and he engineered the game-winning drive in the final two minutes.
Coach John Donnelly says:  “Matt rebounded from a couple early miscues to have a career game.  He threw for 260 yards and two TD's.  He also made some key runs and rushed for another two TD's.  Most importantly, he calmly engineered a 70-yard drive with under two minutes for the game winner.  He continues to make great decisions, throw the ball with tremendous accuracy, and is a solid leader for us on offense.  Matt is a great kid!”

Third star: Pennsbury Offensive Line (Jimmy Dunn at center, guards Rob Hawk & Nika Wright, tackles Maurice Stukes & Zach Bucksar, tight end Bill Turk) – The Falcons – who scored just 38 points in their five preceding games – got their offense untracked, accumulating 279 yards of total offense in a 28-21 double overtime win over Bensalem.

Sterling Limo Defensive Players of the Game:
First star: Malik Bootman, Upper Dublin –
The junior linebacker twice stripped the ball to create fumbles, recovering both and returning both for touchdowns of 12 and 49 yards in Upper Dublin’s 37-6 win over Wissahickon.
Coach Bret Stover says:  “Malik has really come out of nowhere for us this season to become an important two-way contributor to our program both at linebacker and fullback. He is an incredible athlete with a nose for the football. He always seems to be in the right position to make plays for us. I have never seen what Malik did last Friday night done by one person in the same game. Malik was able to steal the football twice on run plays and turn them into touchdowns (12 and 48 yards respectively). When you are getting athletes like Malik making defensive plays like that, it takes a lot of pressure off of your offense. The best part is that Malik is only and junior and is getting better every week.”

Second star:  John Hughes, Neshaminy – The junior linebacker anchored a Redskin defense that allowed just 200 yards in a 21-0 shutout of Abington. He had a hand in 11 tackles, finishing the game with seven solo tackles – one for a loss – and four assists.

Third star: Matt McKenney & Brian Stella – Both players recorded 11 tackles in Central Bucks East’s 37-36 win over Souderton. McKenney – a strong leader and physical football player - is the quarterback of East’s defense. Stella was returning from an injury and not expected to play but made a huge impact, stripping a Souderton player and recovering the fumble. He also blocked another punt.

Sterling Limo Special Teams Players of the Game
First Star:  Barney Amor, Central Bucks East –
The senior kicker was a difference maker in East’s 37-36 win over Souderton, connecting on three field goals (a long of 38) and all four PATs. He also averaged 41.3 yards on punts – with a 45-yard long punt and two punts down inside the 20.
Coach John Donnelly says:  “Barney’s special. I think he’s one of the best kickers in the state. I’ve been saying that before the season began. He kicks the ball deep, typically into the end zone. He punts the ball and changes field position. He had three field goals and the winning extra point. We have a lot of confidence in him. He’s athletic and can do a lot of things, and he’s a great kid on top of that.”

Second star:  Camerin Carroll, Souderton – The senior kick returner had a 93-yard kickoff return to set up a three-yard touchdown run in Souderton’s 37-36 loss to Central Bucks East.

Third star:  Dylan McDonald, Neshaminy – The senior placekicker was 3-for-3 on PAT attempts and had four kickoffs for 220 yards and three touchbacks.

SOL Honor Roll:
Yasin Abdul-Haqq, Cheltenham –
The Panthers’ running back accounted for 186 yards of total offense and two touchdowns in Cheltenham’s 34-19 loss to Upper Moreland.
Jorden Freeman, Harry S Truman – The Tigers’ quarterback had 255 yards of total offense and two touchdowns – including a 68-yard TD run for the winning score – in Harry S Truman’s 21-14 win over Council Rock North.

Koby Khan, Souderton – The senior running back had 23 carries for 192 yards and two touchdowns and also caught two passes for 45 yards in Souderton’s 37-36 loss to Central Bucks East.
Austin Miller, Souderton – The Souderton junior returned three kickoffs for 87 yards in Souderton’s 37-36 loss to Central Bucks East.
Jack Morgan, Souderton – The senior linebacker had another big night on defense, finishing with 12 tackles – two for a loss – in Souderton 37-36 loss to Central Bucks East.
Nate Norris, Central Bucks South – The Titans’ senior linebacker had a team-high 12 tackles – including a sack and two tackles for a loss - in South’s 42-13 loss to North Penn.
Nasan Robbins, Pennsbury – The Falcons’ running back had 163 yards on 23 carries in Pennsbury’s 28-21 double overtime win over Bensalem.
Zach Tredway, Neshaminy – The senior wide receiver hauled in six passes for 106 yards in Neshaminy’s 21-0 win over Abington.
Reece Udinski, North Penn – The senior quarter uncharacteristically had three interceptions but came back to throw for 369 yards and three touchdowns in the Knights’ 42-13 win over CB South.
Tyler Watson, Central Bucks South – The senior running back had 144 rushing yards and a touchdown in the Titans’ 42-13 loss to North Penn.
Wes Verbit, Central Bucks East – The Patriots’ wide receiver had four catches for 126 yards and two touchdowns in East’s 37-36 win
