PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Sterling Limo Player of the Week
Jordan Neely, Abington –
The senior cornerback/wide receiver has done it all in the season’s opening weeks. Neely hauled in a touchdown pass in the closing seconds to propel the Ghosts to a season-opening win over Northeast. Last week, he had a pair of clutch interceptions in the Ghosts’ 27-20 win over Upper Dublin. He also had a 90-yard punt return for a touchdown that gave the Ghosts an early 13-0 lead.
Coach Tim Sorber says:  “Jordan Neely is a great kid that has come though our youth program and is now a huge part of this team.  He has the ability to make the big plays on offense, defense, or special teams.  Jordan has a knack for making plays in the open field whether we get him the ball as a wide receiver, punt returner, or running back an interception.  He is going to be a big part of our success this season."

Sterling Limo Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Mark Lopez-Shefcyk, Harry S. Truman –
The senior quarterback has been a difference maker behind center for the Tigers and served notice that he would be a force with four touchdowns – three on the ground and one in the air – in Truman’s season opener against Bensalem. In Truman’s 37-14 win over Cardinal O’Hara last week, Lopez-Shefcyk was 8-for-12 for 203 yards in the air. He also had 100 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries.
Coach Jon Craig says:  “Mark has embraced his role as the starting QB of our team with great energy and pride.  Every day on the practice field Mark works to improve and also encourages his team to get better.  With the guidance of our hard-working offensive coaching staff, the dedication and selflessness of his surrounding teammates, and Mark's ability to throw and pass the ball, our offense has had a great deal of success thus far, and last Friday was an example of all that coming together.  Not only is Mark a great player, but he also is a successful student in the classroom and a humble young man, who realizes that it's about team success, not individual achievements, and he's the first to applaud his teammates' successes, over his own.  We're lucky and excited to have him as one of our Tigers.”

Sterling Limo Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Josh Smith, Wissahickon –
The senior running back had his third straight 100-yard rushing game for the Trojans in last week’s 20-14 loss to Souderton, finishing with 258 yards and one touchdown on 23 carries for an average of 11.22 yards per carry. He also threw a 45-yard touchdown pass, accounting for both of his team’s scores.
Coach Jeff Cappa says:  “Josh is dynamic player that makes people around him better. Josh can run, throw, catch, and block. We’re fortunate to have a player of his caliber on our team.”

Sterling Limo Defensive Player of the Week
George Froggatt, William Tennent –
The Panthers’ senior defensive end anchored a defense that shut out Oxford in the second half of Tennent’s 37-13 win. He was credited with eight tackles, two for a loss, for a Panther squad that picked up its second win in three games, already equaling its win output of the entire season last year.
Coach Bob Rosenberger says:  “George is a senior captain who is very unselfish and will do whatever it takes to help the team win games.  He is the strongest kid on the team and plays both defensive end and tackle - and also plays tight end on offense.  He has motor on the defensive side of the ball that doesn’t stop.  He is very disruptive to the offense of the other team and sets a great example for the rest of the defense.”
