Sterling Limo Players of the Week (Wk 10)

Sterling Limousine and Transportation Services of Wrightstown is proud to recognize the Players of the Week for each conference. Players are chosen based on the nomination of coaches.

NATIONAL CONFERENCE

Sterling Limousine National Conference Offensive Player of the Week  - Brandon McIlwain, Council Rock North High School
The sophomore quarterback had another big game for the Indians, completing 12-of-16 passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns. He ran for another 30 yards and converted a crucial third-and-12 with less than six minutes to go to help seal a 31-21 win over archrival Council Rock South.
Coach Adam Collachi says:  “Brandon is the ultimate competitor come game day. He raises his level of play to the next level. He now plays full time on defense as well as handles all of the punting duties.”

Sterling Limousine National Conference Special Teams Player of the Week – Alex Greenburg, Council Rock North
The Indians’ kicker booted a 30-yard field goal with 2:30 left to seal the Indians’ 31-21 win over CR South. He also was 2-for-2 on PATs.

CONTINENTAL CONFERENCE

Sterling Limousine Continental Conference Offensive Player of the Week – Alec Vera, Quakertown High School
The Panthers’ junior quarterback completed 8-of-12 passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns. He also had a 48-yard touchdown run in Quakertown’s 34-28 win over Central Bucks East.
Coach George Banas says:  “Alec is really coming into his own right now, and I think the game is slowing down for him. I also believe that being surrounded by really good teammates has made Alec even better this season. He is a quiet kid with a big smile, and he is a joy to be around.”

Sterling Limousine Continental Conference Defensive Player of the Week – Hunter Nice, Quakertown High School
The junior linebacker had a huge game in the Panthers’ win over CB East, contributing 14 tackles, a sack, three TFL’s and an interception return of 58 yards for a touchdown.
Coach George Banas says:  “Hunter has been a tremendous asset to this team and to this defense. He has made many plays for us in key situations. He is the type of player who is goofy most of the time, but when the lights go on on game night, he is all business.”

Sterling Limousine Continental Conference Special Teams Player of the Week – Matt Ammendola, North Penn
The Knights’ junior kicker established a new school record when he nailed a 56-yard field goal, breaking the record of 54 yards of North Penn alum and Temple standout Brandon McManus.

AMERICAN CONFERENCE

Sterling Limousine American Conference Offensive Player of the Week – Josh Trunk, Wissahickon High School
Trunk had two catches for 105 yards and a touchdown. He also threw a perfect halfback pass to Jared Reed that extended a game-winning scoring drive in Wissahickon’s 27-20 win over Upper Moreland.
Coach Jeff Cappa says:  “Josh is an exceptional player because of his attitude and work ethic. He is a valuable player on our offense because of his versatility to block, run, catch and throw. Josh is a former quarterback that moved to running back last season. His willingness to change positions to help the team is a prime example of the type of player Josh is.”

Sterling Limousine American Conference Defensive Player of the Week – Khalil Byrd, Wissahickon High School
The Trojans’ defensive back contributed four tackles, one interception and two pass breakups in Wissahickon’s win over the Golden Bears.
Coach Jeff Cappa says:  “Khalil is one of the top defensive backs in the area. This is a kid that comes to practice every day with a competitive edge. He’s constantly challenging his teammates to work hard and play with intensity. In the Upper Moreland game, Khalil had probably the play of the game, intercepting a game winning drive of Upper Moreland to give the ball back to us. That interception allowed us to go down and score to win the game.”
