Sterling Limousine Players of the Game (12-3-10)

Sterling Limousine and Transportation Services of Newtown is proud to recognize the Players of the Game for Friday night’s District One Class AAAA title game between North Penn and Neshaminy.

North Penn 42, Neshaminy 6
Sterling Limousine Offensive Player of the Game – Brandon Mercer, North Penn
The Knights’ speedy running back had just four carries in Friday night’s win over the Redskins, but Mercer made the most of those carries, accumulating 61 yards while rushing for two touchdowns. He scored on TD runs of 49 yards and five yards to open the third quarter, giving the Knights a 35-0 lead and putting the game out of reach.

Coach Dick Beck says: “Mercer has been biding his time and being patient. He got a couple of touches tonight, and you saw him explode. We’re hoping for more of that next week.”

Sterling Limousine Defensive Player of the Game – Matt Donovan, North Penn
The senior linebacker – a key for the Knights all season - came up with a huge third-down interception in the second quarter and raced 26 yards to Neshaminy’s 44-yard line. A 15-yard face mask penalty gave the Knights the ball on the Redskins’ 29-yard line. Four plays later, Dom Taggart punched it in from one yard out to put the Knights on top 21-0 going into the intermission.

Coach Dick Beck says: “Since Matt was put in the middle of the field at linebacker, we’ve been a different defense. It just really helps get us set up. He’s so smart, and I think he helps Ralph (Reeves).”

Sterling Limousine Special Teams Players of the Game – Brandon Mandes, North Penn
The Knights’ placekicker has been a study in consistency all season. He was perfect on all of his extra-point attempts in Friday night’s big win.

Coach Dick Beck says: “I told him he needs to make every extra point, and I thought he did a decent job kicking the ball off. Those extra points – they end seasons, so we need him to keep rolling.”
