Sterling Limousine Players of the Game (Wk 3)

Sterling Limousine and Transportation Services of Wrightstown is proud to recognize the Players of the Game for SOL teams that are part of each week’s SuburbanOneSports.com’s Featured Games.

CHELTENHAM at QUAKERTOWN (Quakertown 24, Cheltenham 7)
Sterling Limousine Offensive Players of the Game – Quakertown’s Offensive Line (Brody Wambold, Nathan Flath, Chris Varichione, Ryan Cosgrove, Graham Fox)

The Panthers’ offensive line answered the challenge to make a difference in Friday night’s game against Cheltenham, controlling the line of scrimmage in a second half that saw Quakertown outscore its visitors 17-0.
Coach George Banas says:  “Last week we told them during the week that they would be the difference makers in the game, and I really think they were. They worked really hard during the week to try to prepare and get better. On Friday night, as the game progressed, they gained more control of the game, and in the second half, to their credit, that’s how we moved the ball down the field and ended up scoring.

Sterling Limousine Defensive Player of the Game – Quakertown’s Justin Wieder
The Panthers’ senior defensive back contributed nine tackles and two interceptions to lead the defense. He also scored a pair of touchdowns on the offensive side of the football.
Coach George Banas says:  “He’s a kid that’s a great leader on and off the field – in the offseason in the weight room. He’s an emotional guy on the field, and the kids look to him for those leadership qualities. He’s a real good role model so far this year.”

Sterling Limousine Special Teams Player of the Game – Quakertown’s Casey Fosbenner
The Panthers’ senior placekicker was a perfect three-for-three on extra points in Friday night’s win over Cheltenham and also connected on a 26-yard field goal that broke a 7-7 tie.
Coach Goerge Banas says:  “He’s our kicker, but he’s a soccer player. He took it upon himself during the offseason and went to a kicking camp and really improved himself and has really helped our team. Last year and the year before we were chasing points left and right because we were missing extra points. This year he’s extremely solid. He has two field goals on the year. It’s a game changer when you have the opportunity to be able to kick like he did. Kicking the 26-yard field goal – we had confidence he would make it.”

ABINGTON at SOUDERTON (Abington 38, Souderton 17)
Sterling Limousine Offensive Player of the Game – Abington’s Ray Schreiner
The Ghosts’ senior running back, who also lined up at wide receiver against Souderton accounted for over 200 yards of offense, rushing for 84 yards and three touchdowns and hauling in five passes for 112 yards and one TD..
Coach Tim Sorber says:
“If Ray stays healthy and continues to do what he needs to do on the field, we expect big things from him. In our last two games against PW and again on Friday night against Souderton, he made crucial plays at big times to help the offensive team. The thing I’m impressed with him so far especially in the PW game – we needed a big play from him, and he made a great catch on a long ball that kind of sealed the victory. Against Souderton, we put him in a position at wide receiver that I don’t think he ever played before, and he obviously came up with some big plays. He’s a good football player, and he does a lot of things well. He’s been playing for a long time, and his hard work in the offseason is paying off.”

Sterling Limousine Defensive Player of the Game – Abington’s Myles Grasty
The senior linebacker played a key role in a stellar Abington defensive effort that limited Souderton to just 171 total yards. The Indians did not collect a first down until early in the second quarter and turned the ball over three times in the opening half.
Coach Tim Sorber says:  “I think Myles would tell you that he kind of struggled the first two games against CB East and PW and really wasn’t playing up to his expectations and our expectations. For a linebacker to play against Souderton in their Wing-T offense - it’s almost completely different than what you’re used to against other offenses, and he played extremely well and made plays sideline to sideline. The one thing he does very well also besides making tackles and plays is he gets our defensive lineup in the correct positions, which is very key and important, especially against a team like Souderton. We expect that kind of continued effort from him the rest of the season.”

Sterling Limousine Special Teams Player of the Game – Abington’s Chris Duffy
Duffy – who is involved in almost every special teams play - hauled in a 26-yard pass from teammate Dylan Collins on a fake punt on the final play of the third quarter on fourth-and-long, giving the Ghosts a first down to keep their drive alive and all but cutting the heart out of the Indians.
Coach Tim Sorber says:  “Chris is the starting safety for us, and he plays some wide receiver and running back. He’s really a multi-purpose kid. There are a lot of positions we can put him out there, not only on offense and defense, and he makes plays and does a lot of good things. Chris is a very good football player. He’s been playing the game for a long time, and he understands the game very well. We’re fortunate to have that type of versatile kid.”
