OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Josiah Leonard, Bensalem - The senior running back was the workhorse in Bensalem’s 47-18 win over Harry S Truman. Leonard had 22 carries for 172 yards and two touchdowns. The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Owls, who are 3-2 this fall after not winning any games last year.
Coach Alex Houston says: “Coming off the two losses, we as coaches went back to the blackboard and said, ‘Okay, we’re in these games. These games are new games for us because our guys were learning how to win.’ We said that one thing the film showed was that Josiah was not getting the ball enough. He’s uber productive when he touches the ball, but throughout those first four games, he was averaging 14 touches a game, so we wanted to inch that up. We wanted to get him into the 20-touch category. Whether it was receiving or running, it didn’t matter to me. We get him the ball, and he does good things. It’s not always about breaking the home run even though he has the home run speed. It’s the fact that he finds a way to get positive yardage, which bodes well for our offensive line’s confidence and everyone’s confidence. We think we have some great secondary weapons, but you’ve got to have that bell cow, you’ve got to have that guy that makes the engine go. We decided we were going to do our best to inch his touches up, and it showed great results for us all around. We had our best offensive output in years. We think those secondary weapons are really good, but you have to have something to play off of.”

DEFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Quakertown’s Defensive Unit: Josh Bergstrom, John Eatherton, Zach Greulich, Blake Griesemer, Dylan Harrison, Aydan Leighton, Vincent Pellegrini, Freddie Retter, Kaden Roesener, Anthony Schiller, Lex Williams – The Panthers’ defense stole the spotlight in Quakertown’s 31-0 win over Upper Dublin, limiting the Cardinals to eight yards rushing in the first half and 42 yards for the game. All told, the Cardinals managed just 105 yards of total offense. The Panthers’ defensive dominance is underscored by the fact that they had nine tackles for a loss. Lex Williams, who had a team-high eight tackles, had three tackles for a loss and Freddie Retter had two.
Coach George Banas says: “We tackled the best that I have ever seen here at Quakertown as a defense. The players knew we had to be laser focused on the task at hand and they carried out the game plan to perfection. This is one achievement we will look back on in January and acknowledge how well they performed. It was a great all-around team effort in this shutout win over UD.”

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Alec Seserko, Central Bucks East – The senior kicker nailed a 29-yard field goal in the third quarter, which proved to be the game-winner and only points scored in Central Bucks East’s 3-0 win over Abington. Making the accomplishment especially noteworthy is the fact that Seserko, who handles East’s kickoffs, stepped up in the absence of the team’s usual field goal kicker.
Coach John Donnelly says: “Alec was brand new to football last year and has worked diligently to become a very good kicker in the area. He primarily handles our kickoffs but can execute all of the kicking duties. Last week, he stepped in for field goals and PATs because Jack Corrigan was out. Alec stepped in and stepped up, nailing a 30-yarder off that hash which proved the be the game winner in the first of our only two drives in the second half. It was a big moment for him, and the team was fired up for Alec.”
