STERLING LIMOUSINE AND TRANSPORTATION
PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Phil Picciotti, Pennridge – The junior linebacker was a dominant force in Pennridge’s 35-0 shutout win over Pennsbury, delivering 13 tackles in a glittering defensive effort. He also was a catalyst in a new role on offense, finishing with 72 rushing yards and a touchdown on six carries. His 13-yard touchdown run that saw him shed one would-be tackler after another broke a scoreless tie and ignited a 21-0 Pennridge run to close out the half.

Coach Cody Muller says:  “Everybody already knows what Phil can do defensively. He’s a phenomenal football player on the defensive side. He’s had himself a great season last year and so far is doing well in the first two games for us. Phil’s going to make plays. That’s kind of a given. How many is predicated on how hard he’s going and how well our defense is doing their job, but he’s definitely going to make some big hits here and there throughout a game and get recognized for it. He’s worked his butt off to get to that point. In our first game (a 14-7 loss to Downingtown East), I wanted to get him going on offense but didn’t get a chance to. With the heat and everything else going on, it was tough getting guys gassed and ready to go. Having Phil available in the second game against Pennsbury was a big difference maker for us. Especially if we’re in a situation where we need to get those critical yards to get the ball moving, I know Phil’s going to tough it out and do what we need him to do. He’s still raw on the offensive side, he’s still learning everything, but he does make for it in just the intensity he brings on that side.”

STERLING LIMOUSINE AND TRANSPORTATION
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Cam Jackson, Upper Moreland – The senior running back had 18 carries for 93 yards and two touchdowns and three receptions for 73 yards and one touchdown in Upper Moreland’s 34-29 win over Archbishop Ryan. Jackson made dazzling catch on third-and-long of a pass through the arms of a defender in traffic – a catch his coach called “the catch of a lifetime” - and took it home for the game-winning touchdown, capping a comeback that saw the Golden Bears rally from a 29-15 deficit in the fourth quarter.

Coach CJ Szydlik says:  “You’re almost at the point where a catch like that doesn’t surprise you. You’re stunned that it happened, but then you’re like, ‘Well, he does that stuff.’ Cam’s been basically a starter for us for three years now and doesn’t come off the field much, especially his junior and senior years. He’s a leader of our football team. He’s a captain that was selected by his teammates for a reason. He carries himself the right way. He’s a really good student. He does the things you expect out of a senior who’s been playing for you for three or four years.”

STERLING LIMOUSINE AND TRANSPORTATION
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Owen Hussie, Springfield Township – The senior defensive tackle had a monster game in Springfield Township’s 31-7 win over Academy of the New Church. Hussie had 4.5 sacks and six quarterback pressures in addition to five tackles, including one for a loss.

Coach Chris Shelly says:  “Owen Hussie is an undersized defensive end. We call him our stud end. He’s a great wrestler who is tough as nails and and lightning quick. He goes 100 miles an hour every play.  He’s an inspirational leader of our defense, a good student and a terrific young man from a great football family. I can’t say enough good things about the kid. He is a force and will only get better and better as the season progresses. He’s the perfect representation of what our Spartan football team is all about.”

STERLING LIMOUSINE AND TRANSPORTATION
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jaryd Meehl, Upper Moreland – The Golden Bears’ kicker delivered an onsides kick late in the fourth quarter that set up the game-winning touchdown in Upper Moreland’s 34-29 come-from-behind 34-29 win over Archbishop Ryan.

Coach CJ Szydlik says:  It was probably one of the nicest onsides kicks I’ve seen in my lifetime. It couldn’t have been any better. Colin Hogan, who’s a senior, recovers it. We do practice it. For the first couple years being here, the kicking game really was a struggle. We had a couple of kids that tried to do the best they could. Jaryd, who’s a soccer player, comes out last year and really starts kicking. Honestly, he’s solidified that position for us. To have a kid who can put the ball where you ask him to put it, kick field goals and do all that stuff is a huge deal.”
