Sterling Limousine Players of the Week (Week 1)

Sterling Limousine and Transportation Services of Wrightstown is proud to recognize the Players of the Week. Players are chosen based on the nomination of SOL coaches and football contributors.

STERLING LIMOUSINE AND TRANSPORTATION
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Markus Barnett, Neshaminy – The Redskin senior had himself quite a season opener in Neshaminy’s impressive 21-0 win over an Ocean City squad that last year was 11-1. Barnett was a workhorse, finishing with 274 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries.

Neshaminy coach Steve Wilmot says: "Last year Markus started 10 games for us at linebacker.  He was the only linebacker to do so.  Because he was so valuable to us on defense, he had a very limited role on offense.  The opportunities he did have last year to run the ball he maximized and showed some talent.  This year a lot of players matured in the weight room, and we could spring Markus free of defense and make him a fulltime running back.  At Ocean City, he did a great job of finding the hole and making the first defender miss.  He and the offensive blockers did a really nice job of chewing up the clock to keep the Ocean City offense on the sideline."

STERLING LIMOUSINE AND TRANSPORTATION
DYNAMIC DUO OF THE WEEK

Colin O’Sullivan & Griffin Pensabene, Upper Dublin - Colin O’Sullivan and Griffin Pensabene were an all but unstoppable combination in Upper Dublin’s 37-13 rout of Kennett. O’Sullivan put up big numbers, completing 16-of-26 passes (61.5 percent) for 283 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. He finished with a quarterback rating of 137.2 and averaged over 16 yards per completion. Pensabene was his top target, hauling in eight passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns. He averaged 19 yards a reception.

Upper Dublin coach Bret Stover says: “Their connection against Kennett was no surprise. The two of them have the connection on the football field and the basketball court. When you spend that much time together as they have this offseason, it becomes second nature on where Griff will be and where Colin needs to put it.”

STERLING LIMOUSINE AND TRANSPORTATION
DEFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Council Rock North defense – Coaches look for their team to have the advantage when it comes to creating turnovers. The Indians had a decided edge in their team’s 21-7 win over Wissahickon, finishing plus-4 in the turnover category with two interceptions and two fumble recoveries.

CR North coach John Greiner says: Vaughn Vanderslice and Gavin Papp each had an interception while Noah Hoskins and Gavin Papp recovered fumbles. Those fumbles were caused in part due to the consistent contact of Will Paris, Avi Patel and Paul Esposito. In addition, Jack Paesller, James Paesller and Dylan Siveter had key pass breakups late into the game to thwart Wissahickon's offensive attack.”

STERLING LIMOUSINE AND TRANSPORTATION
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Kessey Lowenthal, Harry S Truman – The Tigers trailed Chichester 2-0 in the third quarter when the senior defensive end blocked a punt that set up a short touchdown, giving Truman a lead it did not lose.

Coach Ben Johnson says: “Kessey’s punt block set up a touchdown. He’s a three-year returning starter for us at defensive end. The kid is simply unpredictable in a good way.”

Ryan Zeltt, North Penn – The senior quarterback was impressive in North Penn’s 37-28 loss to La Salle in a battle of perennial powers, throwing for 264 yards and a touchdown.

Rylan Zuk & Ty Quintois, Souderton – When it comes to the kicking game, it doesn’t get much better than the efforts of Zuk and Quintois in Souderton’s 27-7 win over Haverford. Quintois, a senior, connected on his only field goal attempt of 33 yards and was 2-for-2 on extra points. He has had four touchbacks on kickoffs.
