J-Lyricy, Philly Fresh, JHas, DeLong Rich, Biebert, Morgan Livzey, Brett Kozlowski, B-Weezey, Mike Touey, Bob Browne, Asbury, Nick Mackell, Dillon Cooney, Pat Kilkenny, and - not to be forgotten - Spokesman, who, as one fan put it, is ‘the reason we get up in the morning and come to games.’
They call themselves cousins, and there’s no mistaking – the fans that comprise William Tennent’s student section are indeed a family.
On Friday night, the Panther fans – winners of the first ever SuburbanOneSports.com FACEBOOK Fantastic Fans contest - were front and center when they received a custom-designed banner that was created and donated by Nate Linberger of Coopersburg Creative, LLC.
“The amount of school spirit and sportsmanship displayed by William Tennent was truly tremendous, and we were thoroughly impressed, especially considering the size of the school,” Linberger said.
The Panthers fans, with an assist from assistant boys’ basketball coach Brian Bassler, chose the wording for the banner that was unveiled by Linberger at halftime of Tennent’s home game against Neshaminy on Friday night.
“We love our team sports,” Pat Kilkenney said. “We all have some major intensity.”
“We just back up our players,” Dillon Cooney said. “We do a good job of just helping them play better and stay confident, and we get in the other team’s heads.”
“
We have a good group of students,” Ryan DeLong said. “We’re intense, we’ve got a lot of intensity”.
Tennent’s fans were the winner of a FACEBOOK Fantastic Fans contest pitting the Panthers against fans from Abington, Central Bucks South, Neshaminy, Pennridge and Wissahickon. In what became a spirited two-team race, Tennent edged Abington by six votes, 2,409 to 2,403.
The key to the Panthers’ hard-fought win?
“We all voted,” Mackell said. “I texted everyone in my phone, everyone texted everyone in their phone.
“We’re all cousins, so we all had each other’s numbers, which helped. We got everyone out to vote.”
The second Fantastic Fans Contest will be held on FACEBOOK this winter with the winner once again receiving a custom-designed banner from Coopersburg Creative, LLC. Let us know about your fans by writing to us at SuburbanOneSports@comcast.net. May the best fans win!
