Upper Dublin senior long stick midfielder John Quici has made a verbal commitment to play Division II lacrosse at Mercyhurst College.
Quici was a First Team Suburban One American Conference pick last year for a team that qualified for the District 1 tournament. Quici plays club lacrosse for LB3.
Quici will play for a team that went 13-1 under coach Chris Ryan and reached the East Coast Conference title game where it fell to C.W. Post.
“Mercyhurst wasn’t first on my list, but I went on an official visit and I liked how the team was a family,” he said. “They were really cohesive.
‘The campus is nice and close together. It’s out on its own, but only like a two-minute walk to Erie.”
Quici was impressed with talent at Mercyhurst, which finished the year ranked No. 4 in Division II.
“I watched them play and they had guys that are lights-out good,” he said. “I figured if I had the chance to play with some people like, I had to jump at the chance.”
Quici is undecided on a major, but is thinking about studying Business.
Quici, who also was a first team all-league choice as a sophomore, said the Upper Dublin defense returns intact and should be very strong in 2011.
“We have all returning varsity letter-winners and four of the guys are seniors,” he said. “I have kind of grown up with them.”
