Brooke Beidler is the consummate team player. The Council Rock senior spent her junior year playing for the jayvee but never once complained as she bided her time behind talented seniors. In a tribute to her team-first attitude, Beidler’s teammates – after last year’s post-season conferences – elected her one of three captains of this year’s team. “Coming into the season, I wasn’t sure she would be a starter for me,” coach Monica Stolic said. “She just worked so hard, and she waited her turn.”
Beidler is the lone senior in this year’s starting lineup, and while she is not a big scorer, the senior guard has found other ways to contribute. When the Golden Hawks need a defensive stopper, Stolic looks to Beidler. “She’s a hard worker,” the Golden Hawks’ coach said. “She’s not the one to score a lot of points, but she’ll guard the other team’s best player. She’s happy to do whatever she can. That’s the kind of player she is. She’s very positive.”
Although she is not planning to play basketball at the collegiate level, Beidler hopes to stay involved at the club level. She is leaning toward attending James Madison University and plans to major in accounting/pre-law. She hopes to pursue a career in the FBI.

Mike Scheier can flat out shoot the basketball. Wissahickon’s senior captain, who averaged 11.8 points a game, shot 40 percent from outside the arc and kept opposing defenses honest with his ability to score from long range. “Shooting is part of his confidence,” coach Kyle Wilson said. “He puts in a lot of time to be a good shooter. It just doesn’t happen. You have to put in the time and the reps. Michael is a guy that shoots in the off-season hundreds and hundreds of shots daily, and even during the season, he looks for an opportunity.” Scheier admits he’s invested a lot of time in his sport. “I’ve always been one of the smaller kids out there,” he said. “So I’ve had to develop my shot because it’s difficult to get shots in the lane at my size.”
A senior captain and lone senior starter, Scheier was the acknowledged leader of the young Trojans, and he set an example underscoring the value of hard work. “He’s a hard practice player,” Wilson said. “You never have to get on him about coming prepared. He brings it every day. He comes to work hard and gives it everything he has.”
Academically, Scheier carried a 3.81 unweighted GPA (4.51 weighted) and is a member of the National Honor Society. He has been accepted at Pitt, Penn State, Temple, Drexel and Maryland. He plans to major in finance/business.
