Alyssa Kirk was a senior captain of the Neshaminy soccer team this fall, and her leadership qualities made the transition for first-year coach Rachel Clemens an easy one. “You could always count on Alyssa to give 110 percent in games, and even in training and conditioning in our jog-sprints – you would always find her in front of the pack,” Clemens said. “She’s extremely grounded. She has great morals and values, and she leads by example. I just couldn’t ask for a better leader and captain for this team.”
Kirk anchored the Redskins’ defense at center back, but she also was an offensive spark – contributing 11 goals this season, an amazing number for a deep defender. “There were a couple of games where we were struggling offensively, and I actually pushed her forward from her center back to center midfield,” Clemens said. “She’s extremely dangerous because she has that offensive and defensive side to her.”
An excellent student, Kirk takes a course load of mainly honors classes and is a member of the National Honor Society. Next year, she plans to continue her soccer career at the collegiate level and is seriously considering West Chester. She is planning to major in nursing.

Chris Campbell won the National Conference Cross Country Championship with a time of 15:40, finishing a full 24 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. A week later, he captured first in the District One Championship at Lehigh University, finishing with a time of 15:16 – the fastest time recorded on the current course. “He’s running well,” coach Dave Marrington said. “He’s put in a lot of extra work. He worked on his speed and now he’s working on his upper body strength. It’s all paying off for him.”
Campbell also runs winter and spring track. Last year, he finished sixth in the mile at states. “He’s made steady improvement every year,” Marrington said. “He’s running about 25-30 seconds faster this year than last.”
Campbell plans on running in college. He has already visited Richmond and is considering Syracuse, Penn State and St. Joseph’s. He is uncertain of his major.
