Univest’s SuburbanOneSports.com Featured Female Athlete (Week of Sept. 20)
Trish Kilgannon is the captain of the Central Bucks West field hockey team, and she will also serve as captain of West’s lacrosse team next spring. First-year coach Kit Sinnamon also chose to put Kilgannon in a position of leadership on the field, moving her senior captain from defensive sweeper to center midfield. “I wanted to put her in the middle because she’s such a natural leader,” Sinnamon said. “There are a lot of different personalities on our team, but Trish is that leader by example. She does a really good job of bringing in all the different types of personalities, and everyone respects her so much and listens to her.”
Kilgannon also excels in the classroom and is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society. She is a member of the school’s Key Club, and she volunteers her time on Saturday mornings to coach Doylestown Athletic Association hockey and lacrosse. She also serves as a lacrosse ref for Central Bucks Athletic Association and the Bulldogs from Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
Looking ahead to the future, Kilgannon plans to major in broadcast journalism with her sights set on becoming a sportscaster.

Univest’s SuburbanOneSports.com Featured Male Athlete (Week of Sept. 20)
Brandon Cope is a two-year captain of his Pennridge football team. He was defensive MVP of the varsity as both a sophomore and junior. He was a first team all-SOL linebacker and second team all-SOL tight end last season and was also named an All-Southeastern Pa. linebacker. He went out for track to stay in shape for football and last spring captured the SOL Continental Conference title in javelin. “He’s just a great athlete on both sides of the ball,” coach Randy Cuthbert said. “He’s really consistent. Teams have to account for him all the time. They have to change their blocking schemes to block him. They have to put more than one guy on him. It’s very rare he gets single blocked by a guy.”
In the classroom, Cope –a member of the National Honor Society - takes all honors and AP classes and is ranked in the top five percent of his class with a 4.296 GPA. “He’s a great kid,” Cuthbert said. “He’s one of the top kids in his class academically, which is rare because he’s also an unbelievable athlete. You get spoiled when you have someone like him because he can do so many things. He’s literally like another coach on the field.”
Cope is being recruited by a list of schools that includes Princeton, Penn and Lehigh. He is undecided on a major but is considering biology.
