Univest’s SuburbanOneSports.com Featured Female Athlete (Week of March 15)
Katelyn Schneider was a captain and significant contributor to the success of both Central Bucks South’s field hockey and basketball teams. Schneider played defensive back for a hockey team that captured both the league and district titles and advanced to the Final Four in the state. “Kate is a role model student and player,” coach Christina Ford said. “I believe because of her leadership as captain and her attitude on the field, she really was the glue that held everyone together.” It was the same story on the basketball court where Schneider was a threat from long range or cutting to the basket. “She just brings a tenacity that you can’t teach someone – that will and drive to win,” coach Beth Mattern said. A member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society, Schneider also excels in the classroom. “You can’t put Katelyn into one category,” Mattern said. “If I only referred to her as an athlete, I wouldn’t be doing her academic achievements justice. If we only look at Katelyn as a student, we are missing so many of her other qualities. It’s hard to say enough positive things about Katelyn because there are so many.”
A member of South’s student council – Titan Council, Schneider has been accepted at Clemson, James Madison, Drexel and the University of South Carolina. She plans to major in biology with her sights set on becoming a dentist.

Univest’s SuburbanOneSports.com Featured Male Athlete (Week of March 15)
Tim Filer was an unsung hero on Council Rock North’s SOL National Conference championship basketball team this winter. He was often counted on to shut down the other’ team’s top offensive weapon, and although he averaged just six points a game, Filer contributed in ways that extended well beyond the numbers on a stat sheet. “We had a group of seniors who were willing to do whatever it takes to win,” coach Derek Wright said. “And Tim was one of them. He’s willing to do whatever he needs to do to help us succeed. He’s a great teammate, and he’s a senior leader. He has been a big part of our success this season. He’s a model student-athlete.” A versatile baseball player, Filer spent time in both left field and first base last season while earning all-league honors for an Indian squad that was the district runner-up. Filer’s success in and out of the classroom is the direct result of his hard work and dedication.
A member of the National Honor Society, Filer plans to attend Lebanon Valley College next year with the goal of becoming a physical therapist.
