SuburbanOneSports.com recognizes a male and female featured athlete each week. The awards, sponsored by Univest, are given to seniors of good character who are students in good standing that have made significant contributions to their teams. Selections are based on nominations received from coaches, athletic directors and administrators.

Libby Wetzler is a student-athlete who excels both on and off the court. “She’s one of the most well-rounded kids I have come across as a teacher or coach,” Souderton basketball coach Lynn Carroll said. The Souderton senior, a three-year varsity player who is a fixture on the post, has earned the respect of both her coaches and teammates. “We always have all the players and coaches vote, and I’ve never had someone be unanimously voted captain ever,” Carroll said. “That’s so telling of the kind of person she is.”
As a freshman, Wetzler was second in her class. Although that information is no longer provided, it’s safe to say the Indians’ senior captain is near the top of her class. Wetzler - a passionate advocate for human rights - aspires to one day become a human rights or refugee lawyer. Last fall, the Souderton senior received approval to start an Amnesty International chapter at her high school. Wetzler was selected to attend the United Nations Student Conference on Human Rights in New York City where she along with other students from around the United States and Canada met to discuss and share their human rights solutions.
Wetzler is president of the National Honor Society and is a commissioner of LINK Crew, an organization that helps orient new students to the school. Her course load includes three AP classes, and last August she was named AP Scholar with Honor, an award given to students with outstanding achievement on college-level courses and exams.
Georgetown is at the top of Wetzler’s list of colleges with American and the University of Pennsylvania also high on her list.

Univest’s SuburbanOneSports.com Featured Male Athlete (Week of Dec. 26, 2012)
Danny Reilly is a captain of the Central Bucks East basketball team. The senior is a vocal leader who is willing to fill whatever role the team needs. “He’s been with the program for three years, and it’s been neat to see him grow a player,” coach Erik Henrysen said. “He rebounds and defends. He can play big or small. He might score one night and might rebound another night, but he’s always going to give you things that don’t show up in the stat sheet, like taking a charge or chasing down a loose ball. I don’t think you can beat the consistency that he brings. Whether it’s a summer workout or a day before a game, he always puts out 110 percent.”
Playing basketball is just a part of Reilly’s life. He also has been involved in East’s Coaches vs. Cancer since his dad and sister helped start the program five years ago. When East student Morgan Mysza, a member of the basketball team, lost her life to cancer last year, the cause suddenly became personal. “It gave me and all the students a new passion,” Reilly said. “She was a great person. Everybody loved her. She had a great spirit, and this event is a way for her spirit to live on.” Reilly has been instrumental in generating donations, including donations from corporate sponsors. Last year’s event raised $90,000 for the American Cancer Society and a ‘Team Morgan’ scholarship fund. The program has raised more than $200,000 since its inception. “Danny has a tremendous work ethic, and his leadership skills are second to none,” Henrysen says. “He does an amazing job with Coaches vs. Cancer. He’s a complete student-athlete.”
Reilly is planning to attend Penn State next year where he plans to major in business marketing.
