Samantha Park is the very definition of a quiet leader. The Council Rock North senior captain of the girls’ swim team has been speaking with her hard work and dedication to the team for the past four years. Coach Ted Schueller appreciates what he has in Park. “She is one of those kids who is a total team kid,” he said. “You don’t hear much from her, she doesn’t make a lot of noise, she isn’t very outspoken and doesn’t get noticed a lot, but she leads by example and she gets the job done. She’s just one of those unsung heroes who does anything for the team. I can put her anywhere in the lineup, and she’s fine with it and wants to do what she can to help the team. She supports every teammate, from the newest to the best, and that’s why she got picked to be a captain this year.”

Park does not mind not being in the limelight. “I really love being on this team, and I’m honored to be the captain,” Park said. “I’m more of a quiet person a lot of the time and sometimes that means that people don’t always know what I’ve done, but I know what I’ve accomplished so that’s fine.”

Park has quite a list of accomplishments. She has taken no less than the silver medal in her specialty, the 100-yard backstroke, in each of her four years competing in the SOL National Conference championships. She won the conference title in each of the last two seasons. Last year, she was third at the district meet and went on to swim at states, posting a school record time in the preliminaries and finishing 14th overall. “She’s quietly medaled and scored points at every district meet, and a lot of people don’t even know that she’s made the state championships all three years and hopefully will again this year,” Schueller said.

Park would like to swim at college , and her top choice is Mary Washington.

Univest’s SuburbanOneSports.com Featured Male Athlete (Week of Feb. 13, 2013)

Tyler Seislove has wrestling in his blood. The Quakertown senior’s father was a state qualifier during his high school days at Spring-Ford and went on to wrestle at the collegiate level. He also was the former varsity wrestling coach at Quakertown and, until this year, coached in the middle school. His uncle is the head coach of Spring-Ford’s successful wrestling program. It was a natural assumption that Tyler would follow their lead, and he has – creating a legacy of his own at Quakertown.
Seislove is a two-year captain of a Panther program that has won three conference titles in his four years on the varsity. Last year, he finished first at sectionals, second at districts and sixth at regionals. This year he finished second at districts and is on track to reach the prestigious 100-win milestone. “To be involved in winning a league title three out of four years when you’re involved in a sport at the high school level is pretty impressive,” coach Kurt Handel said. “That’s quite an accomplishment. This year he’s a leader by example in the practice room – working hard and pushing the guys. He’s really a pretty quiet kid, and he’s such a nice young man. He’s so polite, he’s so kind and he’s so respectful.”

Although Seislove has a lengthy list of personal accomplishments, it is his team’s accomplishments that mean the most, especially this season’s title after the Panthers opened the season with a 2-9 record. “To win a championship my last year is really special, especially with the way the season started,” Seislove said. “It was bad, and to see how we all came together and turned thing around, it really showed a lot about us, about the team and what we can do. It just makes the ending feel a lot better.”

Just as he excels on the mat, Seislove also excels in the classroom where he is enrolled in all AP and honors classes. Seislove will be attending Penn State University next fall where he will major in aerospace engineering.
