Wiassahickon Boys Water Polo almost get by North Penn

On October 8, 2013, the Wissahickon boys varsity water polo team lost a close game against conference rival North Penn by a score of 10-9.  The first quarter was a defensive battle ending with Wissahickon on top by 1.  North Penn came alive in the second, scoring 4 unanswered goals.  Despite that goal differential, the Trojan boys did not give up.  Wissahickon scored three in the third quarter, but North Penn scored four. The third quarter ended with North Penn  winning by a score of 9-5.  Once again, however, the Trojan boys fought back hard.  Wissahickon scored 4 goals during the final period and held North Penn to one goal.  Unfortunately, that was all North Penn needed and they left with the win.  Offensively for the Trojans, Luke Waechter was on fire scoring 7 of the Trojan goals on a season record 18 shots on goal. Jake Berring and Ben Tumulo scored one goal each.  Defensvively, Alex Bolen played an awesome game with 7 steals.  Luke Tarzia and Danny Knoll contributed 4 steals each.   Mac Hennessey had a solid game, as usual, with 16 saves, five of which came in the final quarter to keep Wissahickon in the game.  Some mental mistakes (ie turnovers) hurt the Trojans, but it was a great overall performance.  Boys, you can BEAT North Penn !!

The JV boys also played a solid game losing by a score of 6-3.  Jeff Beyer lead all shooters with 8 shots, but could not connect with the net.  Goals were scored by Brandon Boone, Nick Pak, and Brad Greer.  Noah Katz and Alex Zavitsanos played solid defense with 4 steals each.
