William Tennent Invitational XC Wrap

The 56th Annual William Tennent Invitational highlighted this weekend’s cross country action. Several SOL runners turned in performances that met the national silver standard. On the girls’ side, Upper Dublin’s Sarah Holl and Lucille Ionescu met the standard with times of 19:02.00 and 19:45.00 respectively. Bensalem’s Natala Balla also met the national silver standard with a time of 19:40. On the boys’ side, Upper Moreland’s Drew Magaha, who won the individual competition, finished with a time of 15:35.00 while Central Bucks West’s Chris Berry (16:26.00) and Alex Predhome (16:30.00) also met the national silver standard.

On the boys’ side, it was Magaha finishing 41 seconds ahead of second place finisher Berry and 45 seconds ahead of third place finisher Predhome. Other SOL runners finishing in the top 25 were Wissahickon’s Sam Brooks (4th, 16:31), Central Bucks South’s Ryan Dickson (7th, 16:35), Wissahickon’s Tristan Marcelis (10th, 16:45), Central Bucks West’s Ben Smith (13th, 16:48), Central Bucks South’s Stephen Chappel (14th, 16:49), Williama Tennent’s John Simila (15th, 16:50), Central Bucks South’s Shane Connor (16th, 16:54), William Tennent’s Colby Henry (17th, 16:51), William Tennent’s Jesse Coleman (19th, 16:55), William Tennent’s Mike Kane (20th, 16:57) and Central Bucks South’s Austin McCadden (22nd, 17:10).

Central Bucks South finished second to West Springfield (73) in the team competition with 88 points, edging rival Central Bucks West (95) by seven points. William Tennent was fourth with 99 points, and Wissahickon was sixth with 115 points. Upper Moreland (248) was ninth in the 12-team field, and Cheltenham (263) was 10th.

On the girls’ side, Upper Dublin finished second behind West Springfield (30) with 69 points as the Flying Cardinals were led by the strong showings of Holl, who finished third overall, and Ionescu, who finished 10th.  Wissahickon finished fifth with 147 points, and Williams Tennent was sixth with 151 points. Bensalem – led by Balla’s eighth place finish - finished seventh in the 11-team field with 188 points.

SOL runners joining Holl and Ionescu in the top 25 were Bensalem’s Gabby Brackett (13th, 19:55), Wissahickon’s Jessica Quesenberry (15th, 20:02), Upper Dublin’s Marissa Holl (17th, 20:13), Upper Dublin’s Laura Wohlgemuth (18th, 20:21), Wissahickon’s Janine Brandt (21st, 20:34), William Tennent’s Jenn Rutkowsky (22nd, 20:44), William Tennent’s Julia O’Donnell (23rd, 20:48) and Upper Dublin’s Adelie Ionescu (25th, 21:03.).
