Wissahickon met with Upper Dublin swim team on Friday at the Wissahickon Middle School, for what they knew would be a fast meet. Wiss Boys went into the meet knowing about the experience and speed of UD's strong, young and fast team.
For the first half of the meet, Wissahickon swam well, defeating Upper Dublin in a number of events, with them swimming their off events. With sophmore Danny Knoll out of the meet sick, the trojans quickly filled spots, and did a great job of utilizing their young team.
We had outstanding swims from Greg Beyer in the 200 freestyle, just missing the automatic qualifier. Greg also had a personal best in the 100 butterfly. Freshmen brother Jeff Beyer had a great swim with dropped time in the 500 freestyle, with hopes of continuing to drop fo a district qualifier. Junior Luke Waechter swam the 50 freestyle, taking first place after a disqualfication to an UpperDublin swimmer for a false start, eliminating him from the race altogether. Luke also faced Upper Dublins big 3, coming in 4th, after our pool record was broken. The record was set last year by Chris Chiodo Ortiz, and broken by Bobby Bantley by .08 seconds.
Overall, the Trojans had an excellent meet, with fast times coming off the holiday break. We start our 2 meets/week schedule this week, looking to continue to drop time.
