Major: Elementary Education
Final list of colleges: St. Joe’s, West Chester, Lock Haven, Shippensburg
Reasons for choosing St. Joe’s: “When I went on my official visit, I decided I wanted to go there because I really liked the campus and I loved the coach – Michelle (Finnegan) is just a really nice person. I also liked the team. We bonded together, and they seemed like a lot of fun.”
Highlight of high school playing days: “My freshman year. I was pushed really hard, and I made varsity. I was the only freshman to make varsity, and my coach really prepared me and made me the player I am.”
What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate field hockey? “I’ve been playing hockey since I was 10. When I joined my first club team in 10th grade, I started to realize, ‘Hey, I’m actually good at this, and I could play in college.’ I went to a few college showcases, and I really got into it.”
Coach Nikki Thren says: “Sarah is a very skilled player who loved nothing more than being on the hockey field and playing. Her love for the game motivated her to be the competitor that she was, and an integral part to team.”
