On Thursday, Feb. 10, North Penn senior Carly Yost was recognized at a special news conference for signing a letter of intent to play soccer at the collegiate level.
Carly Yost – Monmouth University (Soccer)
Major: Physical Education/Health Studies
Final list of colleges: Monmouth, University of Missouri, George Mason, University of South Carolina
Reasons for choosing Monmouth: “I really liked the coach and the team, and they have done really well the past couple of years. When I went with my teammate to our overnighter for the official visit, we both really liked it, and we decided to commit.”
When did you start thinking about playing soccer at the collegiate level? “I have been playing soccer my entire life, and I love the game. My freshman year I actually ran cross country and got into running. I didn’t do soccer that year, and I missed it a lot. Going back to soccer – it’s something I love to play, and I really wanted to play in college.”
What will you take with you that you learned at North Penn? “When you have injuries, you really have to stay focused and persevere through it. We had hard workouts, but we always had fun.”
North Penn coach Jim Dehner says: “With Carly – being my first season as coach of girls’ soccer, I couldn’t ask for a better season, I couldn’t ask for a better team, and I couldn’t ask for a better captain. Carly definitely showed a lot of positive attributes that the other girls took into consideration, and as you can see, she’s signing – it showed.
“I couldn’t speak more highly of Carly. She’s a great young lady, and she will excel, no matter what it is.”
