Abington Girls' Soccer Preview

ABINGTON GIRLS’ SOCCER PREVIEW

Head coach: Rick Tompkins (Head coach since 2010)

Assistant coaches: “We have a fairly new staff consisting of Zach Kluver and Ashley Hopper at the varsity level. The junior varsity will be coached by former all-league players, Issy Mugnier and Lily Campoli. Undoubtedly, our biggest loss were coaches Mallory Mugnier (brand new son, Levi) and Gab and Kayla Nolan who have started a program at CB South.

Last year’s record: 12-4 SOL, 14-6 overall

Notable losses: “We will miss all-league defender and East Stroudsburg recruit Caroline Hughes as well as midfielder Mei Mei Cheng.”

Key returners: “Our key returning players are all league midfielders Maura Day and Carley Slavin, both seniors. We also expect a big year from senior forward, Lily Gray.”

Players to watch: Piper McGinley, forward, and Anna Cleary(Sr) and Madison Oldham(Soph), defenders.

Strengths/question marks: “Our question marks are in goal and on defense, but we expect to come together early and make noise in the playoffs."

Outlook: “We expect to challenge for the league title and to better last year's playoff run where we lost in the second round to Downingtown East.”
