Abington senior Andrick Wesh was recognized for committing to continue his football career at King’s College.

Andrick Wesh – King’s College (Football)

Major:  Physician’s Assistant Program

Final list of colleges:  King’s College, Lebanon Valley

Reasons for choosing King’s:  “King’s is where I really felt more at home, and the atmosphere – I felt more comfortable. I felt like I would be able to have the resources to be successful in the years I will go there.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in football at the collegiate level?  “I was just focusing on having a great season this year. Junior year I didn’t fare too well to the standards which I really wanted to, so I was just trying to finish my last year of high school football with a bang. I guess everything just started clicking for me senior year. I started seeing things that I didn’t junior year, and the game just really slowed down for me.”

Coach Kevin Conlin says:  “Andrick had a phenomenal senior year as a running back and earned first team all-league with 14 touchdowns and over 1100 rushing yards. We had a competition going into his senior year with another player, and by the third game of the year against Cheltenham, he really took off. We ran a screen play on third down and really long, and he just broke so many different tackles. I texted him the next day and said, ‘You’re the starting running back for us the rest of the year – you deserve it.’ By the end of the year, he was hitting long runs. He’s been in our program for four years, but his explosiveness just really changed the tide. What separates him is when he doesn’t have the ball he does all the right things – he blocks all the right people, he does all the little things that colleges really recognize. He’s one of the hardest working kids we’ve ever been around, and he deserves everything he’s going to be getting when he goes to King’s College to play running back.”
