On Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021, Abington senior Conor Gesing was recognized for signing a letter of intent to continue his diving career at the University of Texas – Austin.

Final list of colleges: Texas, Purdue, Alabama
Reasons for choosing Texas: “I just knew it was the place for me to be with the team dynamics there. It’s been my dream school since I could remember. All of their divers are incredible, their coaching staff is incredible, and I have always wanted to be a part of it.”
What was the progression that led you to diving at the collegiate level? “I started diving around 10, and towards my middle school years, I realized I was better than I thought, so I talked to my coaches. We planned to keep working at it to make me a national diver and to pursue it in college. Around seventh or eighth grade is when it really picked up and became a very consistent part of my life.”
Coach Joe Lennon says: “Conor has just been a dream come true when you look what his accomplishments have been. As soon as we saw him the first time on the board, we were like, ‘Holy cow, this kid has so much talent.’ I taught him in class, and he’s one of the nicest, down-to-earth kids. He’s just been a terrific young man that we’ve been so proud 
to have a part of our team. We get to see all the success he’s had all these years from dual meets to district level to state level. It’s been a fantastic ride.”
Coach Stephanie Malatin says: “Conor was talented from the very beginning. He came in super talented. This is my fourth year with him, and he’s just a joy to watch. He’s just so good at what he does. He is funny, he’s very friendly, he’s a joy to be around, and he’s just all around talented.”
