On Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021, Abington senior Anthony Ehly was recognized for signing a letter of intent to continue his baseball career at Seton Hall University.
Anthony Ehly – Seton Hall University (Baseball)
Major: Sports Marketing
Final list of colleges: Seton Hall, West Chester, Millersville
Reasons for choosing Seton Hall: “I chose Seton Hall for their program, their coaches and the campus.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in baseball at the collegiate level? “I always knew since I was a kid that I wanted to play in college. The recruiting started over the summer at some tournaments.”
Coach Bill Degen says: “Anthony is a quiet leader – he’s not the most vocal kid. I’ve known Anthony probably since he was seven or eight, and I always knew how talented he was, but he never played directly for me, so I never knew how competitive he was until I got to see him this year on the field. I was overwhelmed by his competitive nature. Seton Hall is getting a good player. His competitive nature and his work ethic are second to none. He’s not going to be a rah rah guy on the bench, but he’ll outwork everybody on the field. We played Hatboro-Horsham in a 13-inning game last year. I put Anthony in in the seventh inning. He was going to be my starter against PW. I used him for a hundred pitches. He had bases loaded and nobody out twice in extra innings and got out of it and then hit a three-run home run to win the game. That’s Anthony.”
