Cire Worley – University of Massachusetts Lowell (Basketball)

Major: Business/Sports Management

Final list of colleges:  UMass Lowell, St. Joseph’s, Drexel, Coppin State

Reasons for choosing UMass Lowell:  “The family atmosphere, the location. Also, my sister is an assistant coach up there, so having my sister there is a help.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in basketball at the collegiate level?  “The recruiting process started in ninth grade when I started at Abington after my freshman season.”

Coach Dan Marsh says:  “Cire was an instant impact player her freshman year, and we knew that coming in. She was a tremendous scorer and always had the ability to score in multiple ways, but it was her growth in other areas that has really made her a standout player and a standout leader. She wasn’t a very good defensive player coming in as a freshman, she wasn’t super strong finishing. She could get to the rim in a pinch, but now, we could post her up if we wanted to. She rebounds. She can score in multiple ways, and it becomes such a dilemma for the other team because they don’t know – do we put a guard on her or do we put a big kid on her. Whatever they decide, we can exploit in different ways. Again, the thing I’m most proud of is her development in her leadership skills. She’s literally taken over all those responsibilities and has done a great job with it. She’s a great leader, and she’s got this team bought in and playing hard. She holds them accountable, they hold her accountable. It’s just been awesome to see her growth.”
