On Wednesday, May 26, 2021, Bensalem seniors Matthew McShane & Ryan McLaughlin were recognized for committing to continue their baseball careers at the collegiate level.
Ryan McLaughlin – Rider University (Baseball)
Major: Finance
Final list of colleges: Rider, West Chester
Reasons for choosing Rider: “It was closer – it’s only 20 minutes away. My pitching coach went there when he went to college, and he had a great time, and he recommended it.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in baseball at the collegiate level? “I played baseball growing up, and it’s always been my main sport. I played football and basketball too, but I was always better at baseball.”
Coach Harry Daut says: “Glock has been our ace entering the last three seasons. The numbers he put up are phenomenal – 1.35 career ERA, to mention one. He loved getting the ball first game week in and week out. Ryan was just a class act for four years at Bensalem High School. It’s not going to be the same without him.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in baseball at the collegiate level? “This is my dream. I’ve been working hard since I was eight years old. Me and my dad have always been working, and this past year it all paid off.”
Coach Harry Daut says: “McShane was simply the best of the best in a league full of great pitchers. He will be one heck of an asset to St. Joe’s University baseball-wise and academically. He’s just an all-around quality person. He will be missed at Bensalem.”
