Megan Berardelli – Marist College (Diving)
Major: Marketing
Final list of colleges: Marist, West Virginia
Reasons for choosing Marist: “I did a summer program at Marist, and I really liked it. I felt the most comfortable at Marist. It’s a good size, and I really like the diving and swim team.”
What was the progression that led you to dive in college? “Throughout my whole diving career, I always saw people going to college for diving on my club team. It was always a goal of mine to do that. As soon as I saw people doing that, I knew I wanted to do it too.
“I started looking at colleges really early – my sophomore year – for academics, and then I started matching the colleges up with diving last year. I narrowed it down really early over this past summer.”
Coach Laurie Hug says: “Meg has been more than our top diver. Since Wissahickon doesn't have a diving board, Meg only gets to dive at away meets. However, she not only attends all home meets, but cheers everyone on enthusiastically. She helped mentor freshmen divers two years ago when she was injured and even helps score the meets when needed. She was also elected as one of our captains this season. She has qualified for Districts all four years and went to States last year. We will miss Meg next year, not just because of her skills on the board, but also for her upbeat, positive attitude.”
