Taylor Boltersdorf – Georgian Court University (Softball)
Major: Communications with a minor in education
Final list of colleges: Georgian Court, West Chester New Haven
Reasons for choosing Georgian Court: “When I went to visit, the girls were really nice, and the coaches are awesome because they come from the South. They’re a husband and wife, so it’s like one big family. The campus is beautiful, and I received the best scholarship from that school.”
What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate softball? “I had always been a cheerleader. I started cheerleading when I was six, and I wasn’t asked to play softball until I was eight. The first team I played for was a rec team that was all cheerleaders. At the time, playing softball in college never crossed my mind. I started playing travel softball when I was nine, and when I was in eighth grade, I had to choose between softball and cheerleading. I chose softball, and that’s when I started thinking about playing in college.”
Coach Frank McSherry says: “Taylor didn’t start the season last year as a varsity starter, but she worked her way to that point, which is a credit to her. She brings a ton of speed to us, and she’s another kid who’s a slapper, but she puts the ball in play. She’s tough, and the ball better be hit right at you if you’re going to get her out. Defensively, she did a nice job in the outfield for us last year. This senior year is really her year to shine. We’re expecting big things from her.”
