On Wednesday, May 19, 2021, Central Bucks East seniors Anthony Giordano, Mark Lapioli, Reins Leedy & Will Silverman were recognized for committing to play collegiate football.
“I am proud of all four of these guys for their dedication and skill and resolve to fight through the kind of season we had this past year with the pandemic,” East coach John Donnelly said. “They are great leaders and great young men. I wish them all the best.”
Anthony Giordano – Catholic University (Football)
Major: Business/Finance
Final list of colleges: Catholic, Monmouth, Franklin & Marshall, Kutztown
Reasons for choosing Catholic: “When I visited, it just felt like home. It felt like the right place to be. I have a really good relationship with all the coaches. I also know a couple of players there that went to East in the past that I’m very close with. Also, it’s in a great location – Washington, DC - which after college I’m going to be set for business and finance especially. Also, I wanted to compete in high level football, and Catholic has that, so I’m really excited to be going down there.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in football at the collegiate level? “My dad was always big into football when he was younger, and he passed it on to me and my brothers. Football has always been my favorite sport since I was little. I also played basketball and baseball – basketball in high school as well, but football been my number one. I came to East and played all four years here, so it was a blessing to be able to come to a school like this and play.”
Coach John Donnelly says: “The quarterbacks are the guys that I spend the most time with year round, and Anthony Giordano is one of the best I’ve ever been around. He is the ultimate competitor and wants to win at everything he does. He did so many good things for us on and off the football field and in the locker room. He’s as high a character guy as you would want calling signals for you. He was poised to break a lot of school records - although he did break many – when he unfortunately suffered a season-ending injury in the second game of the season this year. He continued to be the consummate professional and continued to lead our team despite the fact that he was injured. Catholic University is getting a great one.”
About Anthony:
Favorite food: Bacon Cheeseburger
Favorite movie: Avengers: Endgame
Favorite music: Drake
Mark Lapioli – Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Football)
Major: Mechanical Engineering
Final list of colleges: RPI, Catholic, Ithaca
Reasons for choosing RPI: “It’s a better engineering school, and overall, I think it was a better fit for me. I liked the facilities also.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in football at the collegiate level? “I pretty much always wanted to play in college. I just wanted to be the best I could. In high school, if I could make it to Division 1, that’s where I wanted to go. I didn’t quite make it, so Division 3 is what I picked.”
Coach John Donnelly says: “Mark Lapioli is another high academic player for us going on to RPI where it’s about the next four years but also the next 40 years. Mark is going to set himself up well for the future. Mark like the rest of our guys have extremely high ceilings. He can get it done on both sides of the football and has enormous potential. He has already done great things, and I look forward to seeing that continue at the next level.”
About Mark:
Favorite food: Cheeseburger from 59 Almshouse
Favorite TV show: Criminal Minds
Reins Leedy – Moravian College (Football)
Major: Undecided
Final list of colleges: Moravian, Lebanon Valley, Dickinson, Muhlenberg
Reasons for choosing Moravian: “I went to a bunch of virtual meetings, and they talked about the campus. When I went on campus in person - as soon as I stepped on the campus, it was like, ‘I want to go to this school.’ It was at the top of my list, but I still wanted to look at other colleges just to make sure. It ended up being my favorite college. The coaches were all talking the school up, and I really liked it. I liked the coaches.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in football at the collegiate level? “I started playing football in sixth grade. My dad played D1-AA, so I wanted to be like him. At the end of my senior year of high school, I was deciding between either going and not playing or playing, but I knew I would miss the sport too much, so I wanted to continue into college.”
Coach John Donnelly says: “Reins Leedy is the epitome of hard work paying off. Reins willed himself into an excellent football player this year as a starter and was our most improved player by far. I’m excited to see him go on to Moravian College, another great academic institution. They play great football there. Their head coach, Jeff Pukszyn, does an outstanding job with their program. Reins will continue to work hard, and great things will continue to happen for him.”
About Reins:

Favorite movie: Avengers: Endgame
Favorite TV show: The Office

Will Silverman – Monmouth University (Football)
Major: Undecided/Business
Final list of colleges: Monmouth, Delaware, Lehigh, Albany
Reasons for choosing Monmouth: “I just really liked the school in general. I had seen it a couple of times - my brother was actually considering going there, and he graduated five years before me. I just really liked the campus and the school. I knew it would fit my major, and I knew it was a good football program too.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in football at the collegiate level? “Football was always the most important thing in my life. I’ve played since I was four or five years old, so it’s always been there.”
Coach John Donnelly says: “I remember watching Will play at Lenape Valley when he was in seventh grade. You could see then that he had all the skills necessary to be one of the great receivers that we have had over the last decade at CB East. He leaves as the all-time record holder in a number of major categories at the receiving spot. Will is as dynamic as they come and is going to a program that is on the rise. Monmouth finished for the first time in its history in the top 10 at the 1-AA level. Will is going to do amazing things, and I can’t wait to see them come to fruition.”
