On Wednesday, May 19, 2021, Soleil Dooner was recognized for committing to continue her softball career at the University of Scranton.

Reasons for choosing Scranton: “I’d been visiting Scranton since ninth grade, and I fell in love with the people and the campus. I thought it would be best for me education-wise too. I also think it just really fit me well personality-wise.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in softball at the collegiate level? “I’ve been playing softball ever since I can remember. My parents started me in t-ball when I was super little. At first, it was just for fun, but the more competitive it got – I was like, ‘I definitely want to be playing in college.’ I definitely realized when I was 10 years old – I was like, ‘There’s nothing I’d rather do than play softball.’”
Coach Karl Knapp says: “Soleil has been an outstanding player for us for three years. She has been the captain for two years and one of our starting pitchers this season. She has been excellent both at the plate and pitching. One of the reasons we’ve had such a good record is because of her pitching ability. She’s been hitting for us in the four and five hole and has been an excellent power hitter. We definitely would not have had the successful season we did if it wasn’t for her pitching as well as her hitting ability. She has been a leader on the field, and she’s always a hard worker and a good captain. She’s really dedicated and puts in a lot of time and effort into everything. She takes the game very seriously and does her very best every time she’s out there. She’s an excellent young lady and somebody I’m really proud of and had the pleasure to know and be with for these three years of softball. I just can’t say enough good things about her. We’ll really miss her next year. She’s been an excellent pitcher, first baseman and hitter for us.”
