Quinn Ferry – Boston University (Lacrosse)
Major: Biochemistry/Pre-Med
Final list of colleges: Boston University, Cornell
Reasons for choosing Boston University: “I decided on BU because I liked the city rather than the rural area. Also, the lacrosse coaches at BU are fairly new. I was part of their first recruiting class, so that was promising because I knew they wouldn’t be leaving soon. Also, they were at other schools that I was looking at, so it all kind of came together. They’re really awesome.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level? “I’ve been playing since kindergarten, but I started playing more seriously in sixth grade. It was probably eighth grade that I decided I wanted to play in college.”
Coach Jordan Sanocki says: “Where to start with Quinn. Quinn leads our team - she’s our rock, the core of our group. Voted captain two years in a row, her mental toughness, optimism, and leadership make her an obvious choice. The team has utmost trust in her. Quinn is recognized by other coaches in and out of our league as a force to be reckoned with. She is one of the most unselfish players I have ever coached. Quinn leads the team in ground balls, turnovers, assists, and is unmatched on the draw circle. She starts plays, feeds her teammates, gives other players scoring opportunities, and has a phenomenal lax IQ. She is equally as strong on both attack and defense. Quinn trains all year round - she plays on club lacrosse teams, Philly select teams, winter leagues, and does work on her own. She’s just so coachable. Yes, she’s going to play at a D-I school next year, but she still is so open to learning and absorbing everything that the coaching staff has to offer. Trying new things, trying different plays. Quinn wants to take as much as she can on to Boston University next year and we can’t wait to watch her excel and take the Terriers to a new level.”
Assistant Coach Kali Cook-Grisewood says: “Quinn’s strengths are across both academics and athletics. She’s a leader in the classroom and on the field, and it translates to her great personality and through the community. She’s approachable, and knowledgeable, so players feel comfortable reaching out to her and learning what they can. Quinn is a great teacher in that way. A lot of her skills are going to be transferable into her college career. We can already tell that she’s going to be a force to be reckoned with. Academically, we don’t worry about her at all. She’s ready to step up to the next level, and we can tell she’s eager to continue to grow. It’s exciting to see her reach that next level and know she will excel.”

Riley Forman – Arizona State (Business)
Major: Business
Final list of colleges: Arizona, California, High Point
Reasons for choosing Arizona State: “Every school that I went to see – I was like, ‘This is not as good.’ Every time I tried to make a different decision it always brought me back to ASU. It’s fun, it’s warm, it’s a big school - I wanted a big football school. It just checked everything off my list, and I loved the girls, I loved the coach. I’m really excited.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in lacrosse at the collegiate level? “I started played lacrosse in third grade just because my brother played. Until about sixth grade, I was more of a soccer girl, and the only thing keeping me in soccer in seventh, eighth and ninth grade was just my friends. Overall, it was just time to make a decision because both sports are a lot. They’re both year round, and I just was better at lacrosse.”
Coach Jordan Sanocki says: “If we’re ever down in a game, tied, or we’re limited on time, we try to put the ball in Riley’s stick. She can finish when we need her to. She can step up and work with her teammates to get herself open in order to put the ball in the cage. Riley is mostly an attack position, but if something’s not working in the midfield, she’ll step up and get on the circle or take the draw for us so we can ensure the first possession in order to start a strong attack. Riley has a lot of creativity. She has behind-the-back shots, twizzlers, risers in her arsenal– she practices all those things a lot of coaches don’t encourage, but we love her creativity. We love how quickly Riley can adjust, and when it comes to shots on cage, she can pull off a different shot every time. We [the coaching staff] cannot wait to watch her thrive as she continues her lacrosse career at ASU next year.”
Assistant Coach Kali Cook-Grisewood says: “Riley is a powerhouse on the field. She is athletically driven. She hits the heavy weights, works hard on her agility and speed, and hits her marks on the net. When push comes to shove, Riley proves she’s the best of the best every time, and she doesn’t hesitate to keep working to be the best. She works extremely well under pressure, and shines when she’s given the opportunity to put the ball in the back of the net. One of Riley’s greatest attributes is that she is not afraid to take risks. She will look at a situation, assess the risks, take it on full speed, and succeed. Riley makes sure that her risks pay off, and we feel fully confident in her and the ability to take those risks. I think it will be a really great opportunity for her in college to continue to elevate herself and her team, taking those risks and succeeding.”
