On Wednesday, May 19, 2021, Central Bucks East senior Joe Jackman was recognized for committing to continue his basketball career at West Chester University.

Reasons for choosing West Chester: “When I visit the campus, it feels like Doylestown, and I think that was a big part of it. Being close to home so I can see my family often is real important to me. I think that was the best opportunity for me.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in basketball at the collegiate level? “When I was a kid, I always wanted to play college basketball, and I worked my tail off to get to this point, and I’m just excited I got to this point.”
Coach Erik Henrysen says: “Joe is really just the ultimate competitor. He just loves working and getting better and really had a work ethic like something we’ve never seen before. He’s super excited about the opportunity to move on to West Chester. I think he really likes the idea that he’s going to be competing for a role and competing for his position.
“West Chester is getting a 944-point scorer, our all-time leading 3-point scorer, but they’re also getting a great person. Joe is looking forward to the challenge, and I think West Chester is getting someone that is fully committed, not only on the court but also to their program, their community and their whole school environment. We’re super proud of Joe and all the leadership that he was able to give us, and all of his efforts are going to have a lasting impression for many years to come. He set the example for our younger guys, and we’re just really, really proud of Joe.”
