On Friday, March 4, 2022, Central Bucks East senior Connor McPartland was recognized for committing to play tennis at Gettysburg College.
Connor McPartland – Gettysburg College (Tennis)
Major: Mathematics
Reasons for choosing Gettysburg: “Gettysburg was my first choice. I looked at a few other colleges, but I pretty much fell in love with Gettysburg the whole time. All the people there were just so nice, and the strong education there. The whole tennis team when I met them – they were all really nice too. Along with the tennis coach – she was really nice as well.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in tennis at the collegiate level? “I actually switched from soccer to tennis in eighth grade. I had played a lot of soccer and switched to tennis. After that, I played a ton of tennis. That was my main focus pretty much. I played on my high school team ever since then.”
Coach Fred Perrin says: “I’ve coached Connor for the past four years. He works very, very hard, and he loves this game and just wants to continue it, and obviously, he’s a very good student, so he’s doing both things at the same time. His work ethic is super. I was practicing with him, and he has a blister on his hand, but he’s still working hard. I’m very proud of him. He’s one of those kids you tell him to jump this high and he goes higher.”
