On Wednesday, May 28, 2025, Central Bucks East senior Luciano Stridacchio was recognized for committing to continue his baseball career at Allegheny College.
Luciano Stridacchio – Allegheny College (Baseball)
Major: Business
Final list of colleges: Allegheny, FDU Madison
Reasons for choosing Allegheny: “Allegheny was the first school to reach out to me. I liked the team, I liked the coach, I liked the field – just the whole thing. They sold me on the culture there.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in baseball at the collegiate level? “Toward the end of my sophomore year, I started thinking about playing in college. I kept seeing other kids getting offered (to play) in college, and I was like – ‘You know what, that would be pretty cool.’ I started researching it and getting into recruiting.”
Coach Kyle Dennis: “In 2002, a catcher named David Ross made his MLB debut for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was a career backup catcher for most of his 15-year MLB career, playing for seven different MLB teams. Despite his travels, he had a lasting impact and a solid career, including two World Series championships, catching two no-hitters, hitting over 100 home runs and a career .994 fielding percentage.
“As a member of the 2016 Chicago Cubs, the now 39-year-old David Ross continued as a backup catcher to 24-year-old rookie Wilson Contreras. The average age on that roster was 27.5, 12 years David Ross’s junior. David Ross became affectionately known as ‘Grandpa Rossy.’ He was bestowed with that nickname because he became a mentor and motivator for his younger teammates. His leadership and positive attitude made him a beloved figure in the clubhouse and in the city of Chicago. His final career at-bat was a memorable home run that helped the Cubs clinch their first World Series title in 108 years.
“I mention this story because just like David Ross, Luciano is absolutely loved by all his teammates. He is a mentor and motivator to his teammates. In the weight room, he is consistently amongst the hardest working and most committed to executing his plan. The results of his dedication speak for themselves.
“As a left-handed pitcher with a strong arm, he possesses tools that can help him be highly effective. When Luc is on, he can be unhittable. In the dugout and on the field, Luc is supportive of everyone. He is quick to help in any way he can. He is willing to do anything the team asks. He does whatever is needed competitively and totally for the good of the team. He was once described by a teammate and I quote, ‘My favorite guy on the team. No one deserves an opportunity more than Luc.’ My hope for Luciano for the rest of his baseball career at Allegheny is that he continues to be the exemplar teammate that he has been in our program and that his career is filled with memorable moments like David Ross.”
