On Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022, Central Bucks East senior Devon Sutton was recognized for committing to continue her track & cross country career at Lehigh University.

Reasons for choosing Lehigh: “When I went on an official visit there, it was the coach primarily and also the team as well. The school is gorgeous, and they are academically such a good school as well, so with such good people, I fell in love with everything there.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in cross country/track and field at the collegiate level? “When I stopped playing soccer my sophomore year and focused primarily on track, I knew it was something I could take very far. I got very excited, and I worked really, really hard, and I have great people behind me that are backing me up and supporting me, so it really helped me.”
Coach Steve Martin says: “Devon picked up track in her freshman year and was a quick learner. She’s someone that is constantly working at her craft, she’s never complacent. She’s a true competitor. I think she’s going to flourish and be a true asset at Lehigh. She just gets better and more mature as she grows within the sport, and I wish her the best. She’s been a great asset to the team. She’s one of our captains, a true leader. She’s been supportive of her teammates as well as enjoying her successes.”
Coach Keith Sinn says: “I have had Devon Sutton on the girls’ cross country team for the past two seasons. She is a two-time state qualifier, participated in the PIAA state meet in Hershey at the conclusion of her junior year and also her senior year. She has logged over 300 miles in training during each of the seasons that I’ve had her on the cross country team. She’s finished in the top 40 at the district meet, which is no small feat, and she’s consistently been our number one or number two runner in the time that she’s been running here at East.”
