On May 16, 2024, Central Bucks South seniors Jessiana Borrell & Jessica Berry were recognized for committing to cheer at the collegiate level.
Jessica Berry – West Chester University (Cheer)
Major: Business/Marketing
Final list of colleges: West Chester, Bloomsburg, University of Tampa
Reasons for choosing West Chester: “I wasn’t considering any other schools for cheer, and the chance to cheer was probably the main reason because I saw the bond the team had that drew me to them. I also like that I’m close to home, and my sister went there, so I knew people that went there and said good things about it. Just the opportunity to continue my athletic and academic career at the collegiate level.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in cheer at the collegiate level? “At first, I didn’t want to, but my coaches told me about it. We competed at West Chester, and I saw what the team did. It wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be. It was just like high school but at a different level. It was fun, and I wanted to continue it especially since my senior year I couldn’t cheer most of the season.”
Coach Alexandra Hanna says: “Jessica Berry is one of those naturally talented athletes that came into CB South cheerleading not knowing her full potential. Through hard work and dedication, she tapped into her greatness and became a role model and leader for her teammates. Jessica is kind, caring and always goes above and beyond. We are so excited for her to continue her cheerleading journey at West Chester University! Rams up!”

Jessiana Borrell – Bloomsburg University (Cheer)
Major: Biomedical Pre-med
Final list of colleges: Bloomsburg, West Chester
Reasons for choosing Bloomsburg: “I really liked the atmosphere when I toured it – I toured it three times, and I really liked the area, the location. I also liked the layout. Everything seemed really convenient and easy to adjust.
What was the progression that led you to competing in cheer at the collegiate level? “I have been cheering for six years ever since middle school, and I really liked the way it felt to me. Something just sparked in me to where I really wanted to continue doing it. Once I finished this season of pyramiding, I was like – ‘I can’t stop now because I’ve come so far.’ I will be cheering for another four more years, and then who knows because I would love to keep doing it.”
Coach Alexandra Hanna says: “Throughout Jesiana's four seasons as a CB South cheerleader, she without a doubt was one of our most energetic positive athletes. She came into each practice ready to tackle any task in front of her. Her positive nature definitely helped shape the culture of our program. Jesiana is hardworking and always gives 100 percent in everything she does, whether that is school or academics. We are excited to see her flourish in her next chapter.”
